Error Messages on my comp!

I get error messages on my computer all the time. Things like 'Error Fixer' and 'Win Fixer' pops up and states that I've got many critical errors on my computer that need to be fixed. When I shut my computer down I get a message saying something along the lines of 'Shut down is strictly not recommended'. When I click on fix these errors, it says it costs around £40, different companies offer different prices.

Is this something I should be concerned about or is it just money seeking companies who over exagerate these errors???

You got me worried though! I ain't got a fking clue about all technical jargon so when you mentioned that my laptop was going to go tats up, I really believed you and seeked advice on other forums.
You must know by now that I am v.gullible!
