I recently bought a Samsung D500 phone off eBay, but four weeks later the bloody battery has been draining itself after a days use, it started the other night after i had plugged it into the USB on my PC to take some pictures off, before that i had an easy four days use out of the battery. I have bought a new battery, and it drains in the same way as the original.

Anyone else have/had one of these phones, and experienced similar problems?

Or do you know any high street places that can help fix the bloody thing?

Drain the thing completely and then put it on continuous charge for a minimum of 36 hours do not unplug or use it.....

Cheers GW, that is something someone else suggested too.

Cheers GW, that is something someone else suggested too. It's common knowledge any product you buy that uses a rechargeable battery should be drained first before the first charge and the makers instruction booklet followed to the letter with regards to the initial charge and subsequent recharging........

It's obvious that if these new 'phones have hi res. displays and 2megapixel cameras, along with video capability, MP3 players and 'real music' ring tones, that the batteries aren't going to last as long?

Maybe, but i dont use the MP3 thing on it, and it only has a 1.3 mega pixel camera.

And like i said it went three weeks working with 3 or 4 days battery life, untill last Wednesday night when i plugged it into the PC with full bars showing, only for it to be dead flat by morning (at 5 AM), thus leaving me with no watch/clock for work. I also left it on charge while at work, i got home and turned it on, it showed one bar, so i put it back on charge untill fully charged a few hours later, it then died again overnight.

I know a few people with D500's and D600's and they all say the same, that the battery is poor and needs charging every day.

I was also told that there is no point totally draining and re-charging the newer phone battery's as they aren't the same type as the older ones that needed it. Whether it's true or not I don't know.

Just to add I have a K750 and can get best part of a week, if not more out of my original battery.

As I've stated before Indishit and Ariston washing machines have printed in big writing on the packaging that their washing machines have been tested/quality controlled using water.....asked the rep why he just laughed and said "stoopid inglish import regulations"

It's supposedly true that Lithium Ion batteries don't have a 'memory', so in theory at least shouldn't need to be totally discharged before recharging.

Does that mean that the phone will still continue to be charging even when the "battery fully charged" message appears?

The person in the mobile shop said to me not to leave the phone charging over night as it kills the cells in the battery. :confused

So what would be the point of charging it for 36 straight hours if it stops taking the charge after, say, 2 hours? :confused

So what would be the point of charging it for 36 straight hours if it stops taking the charge after, say, 2 hours? :confusedIf it is fully charged after say 2 hours that means that it is not working to full capacity and was evidently not fully decharged and recharged to maximum on the date of when it was purchased....All rechargeable battery products even replacement batteries have a small charge chucked in them at the factory to make sure they work. To get optimum performance a complete decharge and a full on charge is required the first charge thus depending on manufacturers instructions is anywhere between 24/36 hours......

How many times I got to say it.....READ THE MANUAL!!! I know it is difficult for us blokes to but then when you get a bloke going ape on the phone cos his newly bought washing machine is dancin' around his kitchen and the reply to the question of whether he had removed the transit bolts for the drum was a no... You begin to get a tad fed up with such stupidity.....

This is hilarious.

GW, what doesn't it charge again?

It's common knowledge that when you charge a battery for the first time you do it for ages to preserve its life. Can't remember, and nor do I care. It's just the way things are.

It might be common knowledge, but the phone i bought wasnt new anyway.

So i have no idea if the original owner did charge it according to the manaual.

Anyway, i drained it, and left it on charge for a day, turned it on this morning at 5AM, still showing 3 bars, fingers crossed it lasts atleast another couple of days.

You could always do what I did, buy a $1300 phone, drop it, and be forced to use a $100 phone because you can't be arsed paying $300 to get it fixed.
