Well it began this morning with the world no. 1, Lleyton Hewitt coming in under an injury cloud (chickenpox). However the real suprises come as the tournement started. The bookies favourite Andre Agassi and Serena Williams have both withdrawn through injury leaving the Mens draw wide open.

So who's your pick to take the crown. I'll go with my heart and go for Hewitt and for the Womens I think Hingis will win it.

I still see Sampras as a strong favourtie. As an outside bet I reckon Roddick could do it if he keeps his cool.

For the women I hope Hingis win's but no doubt Venus Williams will win.

Anyone of 5 or 6 players could win the mens. I think Hewitt will go all the way but I think Tim Henman could go past the fourt round for the first time at a Grand Slam other than Wimbledon.

In the womens I'd love Hingis or Henin to win but I can't see anyone beating Venus Williams. However, with both Davenport and Serena Williams withdrawn some of the lesser known players could get further.

Justine Henin just defeated Anna Kournikova 6-2 7-5 in todays first round action. Other news if you're a little behind is Gustavo Kuerten lost in five sets and Mary Pierce retired hurt with a back injury.

Hewitt has been bundled out in five sets so the Aussie hopes now ride on the Melbourne born and raised Mark Philipoussis.
