Good luck to everyone who will be receiving their GCSE exam results tomorrow, I'm starting to feel really nervous because I hardly did any coursework which will knock my grades down alot:slap:

GCSE's, if you are going on to further education end up being next to pointless.

Same with A-Levels.

The further you go the more meaningless the last lot become.

How do you think the rest of the older ones on here feel?:whistle
Myself, I am only 28, which means i took my GCSE's 12 years ago ('JEBUS' - Homer) and i still remember doing 1 hour revision during dinner before my afternoon Geography exam, and every question we revised came up on the exam:yahoo, but i still only got a D:slap:, but the rest of 'em i passed (all 11 of them - not boasting or anything:coat).

Well, nostalgia over with, good luck to all who get results tomorrow, you'll be nervous till you get them, but then you'll be relieved afterwards:thumb

It's just hit on me how much of a dick I was not revising for anything.

It's my own fault if I do rubbish and part of me wants me to fail to teach myself a lesson.

I will probably get at least all C's tho' .. apart from RE .. it's shite.

You do realise they mean fckall, its just so you can move onto 6th form/college. Doesn't matter how many B's you got (well unless you did Science and needed it to do that subject at the higher level).

I know that finchel, they become more and more irrelevant. I got what was needed to get into Sixth Form without trying too hard, and not becoming a complete nerd with no life who spent all his/her time revising (no-one on here has, but just saying, some do).

But they do matter. If you get an A or A* at GCSE in a key subject that you'll need for university it's definitely an advantage. Making sure you get decent grades in English and Maths is quite important too, for job prospects if you don't go to further education

I think they're getting easier mate.

No offence to the lads who've done them, but what you've got to look at here are the fact that more and more kids are "wagging" school, and resorting to violence and anti-social behaviour, and not showing a willingness to learn. However, every year the figures of pass rates are rising.

They're either getting easier or you need 50% to get a B.

bcfc4life
24th August 2007, 11:19
the 'pass' rates for alot of schools iv seen are not a - c, but in fact a*- e which is classed as a pass. i dont think they are getting too much easier, i think its mainly because schools are widening the cut off point between a pass and a fail

It is hilarious though, like was on Mock The Week last night, kids do well..and it's immediately attributed to the exams being easier. Build them up for a big fall ey..

Been looking at my old school and others' results as they are published in the local paper as A*-G (A*-C).

Quite bad for some of the places kids were listed as 2 (1) or even 0 (0). Poor buggers that everyone will know that. I don't recall being offered the option to not have them published...

Most employers will look for English and Maths as your basic indicators anyway.
