Vista's min. req is 2GB ram, I wouldn't expect fantastic performance from it.

Really? It's still pretty fast though?
What do you have?

I have an older laptop had it for a while, 2GB ram, 2Ghz single core processor. Windows XP though.
It is a decent laptop but it would be better performance wise if it was XP Pro.
Having said that, unless you plan on gaming on it (I would hope not) I would imagine it should be fine, and seems a genuinely decent price.

Not bothered about gaming but why is it so bad for that purpose?

Laptops are shyte for gaming at the high end, they can play RPG's and other less graphically intensive games alright - FM is perfectly fine on one however don't try and play the latest FPS action games or even high end racing games.

Exactly. There are laptops that can handle gaming, but they are high end beasts that cost a lot more than £500.
