Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, life isn't always fair, and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not children are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job they themselves failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer Aspirin, sun lotion or a sticky plaster to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar can sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by three stepbrothers; I Know my Rights, Someone Else is to Blame, and I'm a Victim.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing.

Good one TB.

Another reason common sense died ,,,,

In schools there used to be a nit nurse who came round to check kids heads.
She was very discreet and I couldnt have told you who had them in the class cos the parents were informed by letter.

Now there is no nit nurse and instead of one or two kids having them the whole class can get them cos the person who had them in the first place cant be checked cos its called assault! FFS!

What a load of bollox,,,so everyone has to suffer! :angryfire

Valid points by TractorBoy.

But who is it that has allowed this to happen?

Slowly over the last 2 decades the PC Nazis have eroded all common sense from our society, so we now have 'whiteboards' in our classrooms, because 'blackboards' were offensive ~ but I don't remember anyone complaining about them being offensive, this just happened?

Seems to me society has been sterilised by stealth, the perpetrators being unseen and unelected, and unaccountable for their insane decisions.

Is it too late to restore some sanity?

Is it too late to restore some sanity? When you have people like Silvio forcing their one sided and dangerous overly zealous PC views onto you, then no, no hope, I'm afraid.
This country really has gone down the pan..... :(

Why is blackboard offensive while Whiteboard is not?

Surely you don't think they put white boards in classrooms because blackboard is racist?

I thought "blackboard" was replaced with the term "chalkboard"? It was when I was at school under the wacky, PC regime of Thatcher.

 Was just reading about "Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep" - hilarious - whatever will those nutters think of next!

In 2000, a warning that the nursery rhyme Baa Baa black sheep should not be taught in schools because it was "racially offensive" was scrapped.

The guidelines by education chiefs at Birmingham City Council were dropped after black parents condemned the advice as ridiculous.
Sounds like only a bunch of white people were offended by it. :rolleyes

I wouldn't put anything past the do-gooding ultra lefties (who usually have nothing to do with the thing they are complaing about) nowadays.

The term "blackboard" was banned in my school by a Conservative council, under a Conservative government :whistle

I'm sure smiffyboy is right, I've asked my nephews about this in the past, and it is always referred to as the "chalkboard".

Since when did describing something/someone as black become racist?

Does this mean I can't say "I have a black friend", last I heard the whole "coloured" thing was deemed more racist and we had moved back to black. (No Winehouse puns please)
