If its happening to Cliftonville and Crusaders, how long before these
kind of problems hit the even smaller clubs?
Is it a case of mismanagement or is Irish League football just facing its most difficult period ever?

I think a lot of the 'smaller' clubs are the ones who are more financially secure than the likes of Cliftonville. Though I wouldn't say we are a small club (more medium sized - if there is such as thing!) we have seen years ago that we couldn't go on spending money we don't have - now we're in a relatively secure financial position - we don't have a lot of money, but we don't owe much either. Also it has been previously stated here that Institute are not particularly in debt either. Did anyone see the Sunday Life article where Coleraine actually made a healthy profit last season?

I would agree that the smaller clubs are probably better off. Stute still don't have a board of directors but have a management committee and still run the club like a junior team. ie We get sponsorship money at the start of the season and Paul Kee is told that is his budget, end of story. Another reason why I think Stute will never be allowed to get into the red is they don't own their ground. They have a 50 year lease on the ground therefore they cannot take out loans etc The YMCA own the ground with Stute paying a nominal fee for yearly rent. I think it is £10, this is because Stute invested £30,000 into the YMCA when it was built in Drumahoe. Banks are only too willing to lend clubs money as they know that their grounds are in prime location ie Ards.

We're quite simply the best. ;) Well actually it was a fluke but still, in Davy Cameron, we have a brilliant chairman.

You've got an incredibly stupid chairman.
If the rumours regarding how much money he puts into the club are true, then you'll seriously be ****ed when he quits next year!
Still, I'd swap him for big Adrian!

AndiW, Cameron isn't going to quit. It isn't just him that is supplying the money either...
WJFC, what club in their right mind would want to go to Moldova?

stories like this get boring after a while. there's always someone who ends up saving the club by givin cash injections
