Surgeons have removed a massive 4.5kg hairball from the stomach of a teenager in the United States.
The 18-year-old went to her doctor after complaining of stomach pains and vomiting.
Doctors carried out a scan and were amazed to find the huge mass of hair blocking her entire stomach.

The woman admitted she had been eating her locks for five years, the New England Journal of Medicine reported.
The publication said the hairball measured 37.5 x 17.5 x 17.5cm.
Once the hairball was removed, the patient was discharged and given psychiatric help.
A year on and the teenager has gained 9kg - and has stopped eating her hair, the journal said.

Something like that happend yeaaaaaaars back. At the time I used to nibble on my hair when I was about 10, and the story scared me. So I never did it again.

They don't eat it, it's nibbling. Say when girls have their hair in plats, they knaw the hair at the end. Loads of kids do it. Especially girls. And it's never stopped, as the kids I work with do it.

So basically, if you've ever swallowed hair it's probably still in there. Or something. So I've probably got a hairball, because I've had waist-length hair since I can remember, and I definitely used to chew the ends of my plaits when I was younger!
