Crusaders are our guests this Saturday at the oval, and once again, three points for us are a must. It would also be a nice reply to the Crues, for ending our chances of lifting the CIS cup, when they knocked us out at the semi-final stage.

For us three points are essential, especially when we've Cliftonville, (22/12) followed by Linfield (26/12) and then we finish December away to Portadown. (29/12) Gaining maximum points in these fixtures is quite a formidable task by anyones standards, and besides, we need to show a little "bounce-back-ability" after last Fridays horror result away to Limavady.

My daughter and i are both going to the game this week, so here's our predictions:

Mine : Glentoran 3-1 Crusaders.

Miss Happydaze JNR : Glentoran 2-0 Crusaders.

C'mon ye Glens......:thumb

That God, Red1, (For our sake) you appear to be no expert when it comes to the prediction stakes--lol.

The game itself was actually very disappointing. But how many times, this season, have you heard that quote from Glenmen?
The highlight of the entire game must surely have been Michael Hallidays beautiful and exquisite finish, after some dogged work by from Gary Hamilton (Who else) out on the wing, who rushed out to retreive the ball on what appeared to be a seemingly lost cause.

Hamilton himself deservedly scored the third goal, after what seemed like a goal mouth scramble, but i should also point out the part which he played in our first, and opening goal. He cut in, rushed by the Crues full-back and fired a fierce shot at a tight angle, only for there keeper to palm it out in the direction of the in rushing Fordyce, who steadied, took aim, and fired a low shot straight into the Crues goal.

As for the Crues? They certainly threatened in patches, and it was only a miraculous goalmouth clearance from Colin Nixon which prevented them from equalising. Overall, i thought that they give a reasonably good account of themselves today.

Just one last point of interest. I thought that the referee today, looked like a flashing beacon in his overly bright "yellow uniform", i must admit i didn't recognise him and it was my daughter who pointed out to me that he was a Scottish referee. According to todays Glentoran Gazette he was a Mr J McKendrick, but i thought that, overall, he policed the game well.

This was a far from satisfactory Glentoran performance, once again, today. But three points is what was required, and this was mission accomplished.

The Reds will provide a sterner challenge next week, we all know that.
We may not get the same scoreline, but heres hoping for the same result.
And by that, i mean a Glentoran victory......

Well i think we didn't play too badly i mean come on you dont play badly and not score 3 goals yano? Highlights of the match for me had to be Hallidays absolute peach of a goal and Nickys * i think it was him* amazing overhead kick clearance of the goaline. This win sets us up nicely for the next tough games and a boost of confidence.

Referee wasn't too bad today imo.

Bring on Cliftonville! :)

Well i said you would beat Newry, but at half time and a ball cleared off the Glens line, things might have been different for the Crues.

Not really we still would've won 3-1. :)
