I can't mate. They removed my pm capability months ago and have not returned it so I don't receive any except when I've been a bad boy and the mods want to shout at me.
If you have sent a message I am not able to see it unfortunately.

Ah ok, thought there might be a function to refuse PMs or something.
Am off to Munich in a week or so, also Stuttgart, Freiburg and the BLack Forest area, so wanted to ask someone in the know about these areas and if you had any tips on where to go, what to look out for etc.!

few days in Stuttgart, up to a week in Munich, undecided with Freiburg yet depending on how nice the Black Forest is this time of year for a bit of hiking and what opportuinty there is for skiing in somewhere like Titisee. Travel is basic IC/ICE trains I would think.
Interests - walking in the forest, skiing of poss., cars, seeing the great outdoors, consuming alcohol, bavarian nightlife

I've been to Stuttgart a few times, usually for the football, and always found it a bit of a hole.I don't know it very well but it has the Mercedes and Porsche museums. The pubs were crap. Not been for a while though.
Munich however is brilliant but there is not a lot around the station. For drinking get on the u-bahn (tube) and get off at "Gisela strasse" or "Münchner freiheit",then you will be in the middle of Schwabing which is the main nightlife area and is packed with good pubs.
For Bierkellers go to the famous Löwenbräukeller on Stiglmaierplatz near the station.During the famous putsch of 1923 Röhm's stormtroopers met there before marching to join Hitler and Goering at the Feldherrnhalle where all the fighting was.The honour tombs for the 16 Nazis killed that day (now empty and overgrown with trees, bushes etc)are still visible on nearby Königsplatz.
If you are in Munich on 26 jan you can go and see Bayern play 1860 in a mid season friendly at the Arena.
Munich also has good museums including the Deutsches museum and the BMW museum.
For skiing and to see a typical upper Bavarian town take the 90 minute train trip to Garmisch Partenkirchen, should be plenty snow down there now and there are some great old Bavarian pubs such as the Frauendorfer and the Fiaker both in Partenkirchen.Pub 33 right outside the station, used to be a favourite bar of ours 20 years back but it used to be in another building down the road back then.
Take the mountain railway the 15 minute trip to Grainau at the foot of Germany's highest mountain the Zugspitze(going all the way up costs a bomb).Grainau is where we lived in 84-85 and our old local pub the Höhenrain is still there on Eibseestrasse.
There are many opportunities for walks and cross country skiing around Garmisch. In Munich if the weather is nice try the massive English Gardens, one of europe's biggest parks.
To the north of Munich 45 minutes by train,is the town of Landshut, capital of lower Bavaria.Landshut is a beautiful place but you need a bus from the station into the town.I lived there for 7 years and still love the place, some good pubs too!
Freiburg I don't know at all but am told it is a beautiful town, the Black forest is magnificent.
Anything else you wish to know just ask.
Cheers,
Zippy..

If you get as far as Hannover I'd be delighted,(unless I have to work),Dortmund is a bit far though (4 hours by train).

Frankfurt - the cocoon club? Sven Vath's club is awsome, if you missed it then it was your loss.
