So im down £50 & a PS2. How do I report this? Has this happened to you before? Will I be able to claim it back? I have the guys emails he has sent me...

I use PayPal all the time and they have never asked me to post an item or 'phone them.Did it go abroad or just in the U.K.

I get loads of PayPal e-mails which are fraudulent and i just forward them to the real PayPal and let them deal with it.

To be fair i have never had a problem with e-bay as i mostly sell stuff, once i have the money in my PayPal account,i send off the item.

Also i never deal with anyone who does not have 100% feedback.

The item got shipped abroad to Nigeria. So pissed off i fell for the fake PayPal emails. Im just filling in some forms on ebay now to report what has happened. I have the forms from the post office which show I have shipped the parcel and it also says on it what was inside the parcel.

The delivery type I chose means that I am covered for loss or damage worth up to £150, but I aint sure if I will be entitled to that since it isnt exactly lost?

Do you guys think I will be able to claim anything back even if they are unable to get in touch with the guy who did this? Ive got the proof of emails & post office forms to show that my story is the truth...

I take it the address was abroard? I mean £50 P&P is well OTT for it to be sent anywhere in the UK.

I'm afraid there won't be much you can do about it. Ebay warns you about this kind of thing and as has been said, Ebay or Paypal would never tell you to send the item before being paid.

What is the username of the person that bought it? Where about do they live?

I'm sorry, but I just can't help laughing...

On a serious note, can you not trying contacting the buyer and see if there's any way he'd still be willing to send payment (assuming you sent it to his address and didn't obtain a dummy address?).

I can't understand why you (or anyone) would want to send a PS2 to a seller in Nigeria though? To me, I would immediately have my reservations about this. I've set a rule on my Ebay account that bidders from outside the UK cannot bid for my items.

Ouch, Nigeria, in that case, you don't have a chance of seeing that again. Country full of scummy scammers I'm afraid. Don't ever deal with people from Nigeria, China, Russia, Poland, etc unless the person has superb feedback ratings.

When was the item sent? If you had it recorded delivery, you "might" be able to get the Post Office to intercept the parcel before it gets out the country, but I reckon i9t'll probably be too late.

If your paypal account is linked to your credit card i think you can.

If you just have a current account with a debit card and use that,i dont think you can.

Don't quote me on any of the above as it was ages ago when i set mine up.But i do remember linking my credit card because it gave me more protection if anything happened.

The username was hamwiloh .

His account got deactivated by ebay today I think? I still have two addresses (The one I sent the item to and another one which is on his ebay profile)

Name & address should be enough for them to do something dont you think? I know if I do get anything back it wont be for a few months at least...

Nope, I think he's obviously a scammer and as his account's been banned I don't think you will have much joy.

Put it down as a (expensive) lesson learned.

I sent the package at 1pm today. I went back to the post office at 2pm when I rang paypal and realised it was a scam and tried to get my parcel back. Sadly, a van had already taken it away. So I rang both the Post Office & Parcel Force numbers up trying to get to talk to someone (waiting 20 minutes to actually talk to someone) When I did talk to them they said it was "impossible" to stop the parcel from going to its destination.

I find that really hard to take. I mean the van would have collected all his parcels through the rest of the day and then gone to its depot on the night. Why couldn't they have taken the parcel out then? Its pathetic. If I had the parcel reference number I should be able to ring up the company and cancel the parcel. I would have probably lost my money but I would be prepared to do that. Its barmy how, and I quote from the lady from parcel force "Its IMPOSSIBLE to stop the parcel even if you do have the shipment reference number. Its against government laws".

Government laws?! We are not talking about something serious here now are we?

Likewise, many people (Government laws and all) will think one person's stupidity and a PS2 aren't that serious as well.

Regardless of whatever item is being sent, you should be able to stop your parcel in the unlikely event that a situation would come up, especially if you have the details.

If someone is in ANY doubt, you shouldn't send the item in the first place (ESPECIALLY if you haven't been paid). If you're stupid enough to send something that you're not fully satisfied in selling, it's tough really once you've posted it.

To be honest ebay are really bad in dealing with this. I remember some scammer from Nigeria tried the same with me and the fake paypal email they sent me was pretty lame. So i sent him a fake tracking number for a laugh. Sorry mate but i don't think ebay or paypal will do anything about it

Ive just searched his user name on ebay and he has received 100% feedback albeit it he has only bought 7 items and at very random times. I don't think you will have much joy in reimbursing the money and because he lives in Nigeria, you can't go knocking on his door  Waiting until you receive payment before sending is the only way you can guarantee getting the money. Ive never sold anything on ebay but have bought things and Im assuming most sellers do wait for payment before releasing the item.

The fact that the seller isn't being paid for tickets until arrival at the ground?

What?

GW is sending some tickets off to an address in Bournemouth. The buyers are meant to meet him at the Stade de France to give Baz his money, what is to stop them from not meeting him if they already have the tickets?

unlikely..

When you are sold tickets, they are for the same area.. And normaly a restriction on ticket amounts. Something like 4 per person.

im with the sheff. uts fan on this. he could also put the tickets on the black market and make a mint and get a ticket somewhere else in the ground. sounds very silly to me
