A German man trying to find his way home to the city of Nüremburg after visiting his sister, wound up taking a wrong turn, and, after driving 819 km in the wrong direction, found himself in Denmark.
The 84-year-old's journey came to an unexpected end when he drove his car onto a field outside the city of Aalborg in Northern Denmark.
The man, who is the second German to have taken a long-distance drive after making a wrong turn in just over a year, remembered neither making the wrong turn nor driving his car off the road.
The man apparently thought that the town was his own town of Moers, and initially refused to accept that he was in Denmark, not Germany.
After being noticed by a local resident, the man was taken to a nursing home for the evening. Local councillors say he may remain there until he feels up to travelling home.
