Dunno if you've already seen it/signed it, but I have a petition up and running calling for SOME form of all-ireland competition to be investigated by the FAI and IFA. The more signatures the better, as it will benefit all of us.
it's here (http://www.petitiononline.com/ailsoc/petition.html)
cheers

The coleraine fans don't travel to Windsor or the Oval, the Portadown fans don't travel beoynd Lurgan and no one goes to Omagh... Could we be bothered going to Cork? Sligo? Dublin? the money to take part would need to be good.... It'd cost a fortune to get a plane or bus to some parts of these isles...not to forget that these players are only part time, they'd have to travel long distances and leave work earlier...

I've signed it if only for the reason that I'd love big football based piss-ups in Cork / Galway etc and the way we're going we might as well play in an all-Ireland 3rd div rather than the ****ing rump of a 1st that no-one's interested in!

I think -at least intially- the novelty value might bring out bigger crowds. The reason I worded it as "some form of competition" was that I think a cup might be the best thing to start with, rather than just jumping into a league straight away. It could also be regionalised to some degree if necessary.
