In your younger days what was the football game you played..

We played catchy.. catchy is a game that someone goes in goals, 2/3 people tend to cross the ball to one another, and need to score on a volley, and if the goaly catches it, the last person to touch the ball goes in :smokin:

Then there was Worldy.. again one Goaly and every man for themselve.. first person to score one, goes off and goes on, and there is a next round and first person to score 2 and so on and after you win the final.. you get to chose who is in next :D

Doubles.. Just like worldy but you get paired into teams..

There is hundreds of games..

What ones did you play and enjoy ?

We played a game called Wembley.

One kid would be the goalkeeper, the rest would be all against all and would have to try and score....if you score, you go through to the next round. The last person left would be eliminated, then the next round would take place...then the same would happen again until there is only one person left, who was of course the winner.

A fun little game, I wouldnt reccomend it though. The amount of playground spats and fierce tackles made it a bit of a nightmare!

We used to play "Boney" which was headers and volleys, very similar to 'catchie' and if the keeper made a save by making a "clean catch" then whoever made the volley or header would go in goals.

We also used to play "World Cup Willie" which was the same as "Wembley".

Just sounds the exact same as Worldy :thumb

Champ - kicking the ball in turns against a wall, and if you missed or the ball stopped dead you lost a life. 5 lives lost and you had the ball kicked at your arse

This is a great topic!

In the junior school it was always 3-and-in but in senior school 'Headers and Volley's was very popular, along with the 20 against 20 football matches on the playground - sometimes with just a tennis ball.

we played this too but our rules we're if the keeper conceeded 10 goals then he'd have to stand on the line with his back to the penalty spot and every one else would have the chance to blast the ball at him from the 6 yard line.

We used to play headers and volleys or worldy as some of you call.

We used to play a game called cups, which is exactly the same game that Luke has described.

Also, a game called spot, which is exactly the same as the game scotty has described.

Its weird how we all played the same games, but they have different names in our different areas.

Bar - Two players would stand either side of a goal (one with no nets on obviously) and each in turn would aim to hit the bar.

Shooty - Played in the enclosed entries between two council houses. A player would stand either end of the entry and basically just have turns to shoot and score against opponent. You were only allowed to touch the ball twice, that's trapping/controlling it and shooting on your second touch.

Knockout - One in goal, as many that are available playing out, basically just a every-man-for-himself, were you play against your opponents and score. Each time each player scored, they made it through to next round, player that fails to score each round is knocked out, until basically you had a final two players left.

60 seconds - One goal, as many as available outfield, goal count to sixty, aim is to score past goalie in them sixty seconds. When goalie reaches sixty you either had one cross left or you played till goalie caught ball without it touching the floor. Player who last hit ball that goalie catches goes in goal.

One touch. Pretty simple, get the ball and smash it against the wall with your first touch or your out. Wembley was always legendary.

yep pretty much

used to also play in off the wall where you had to shoot via the wall right next to our "goal"

Also Kerbit was a good one. Where you stood opposite each other on the kerb and you had to chip the ball from one side (Off Pavement) and get it to hit teh kerb. Very skillful game

Yup, used to play this too, but think we called it footy kerb, as opposed to normal kerb were you threw the ball and attempted to hit kerb.

World Cup- 1 keeper in goals, then all against each other.

On the Volley-Goals only able to be scored by a header or volley, if you hit wide your in, keeper makes a clean catch your in, and 2 handballs or overs, your in...

Headers & Volleys

Wembley

Bari - same as what Brian described.

Red Arse - Same as heads and volleys but if you scored 5 against one person and that person who was in net caught someone, the person he caught would go in net and keep the scoreline. Whoever was in net by the time 10 goals went in they would get 'red arsed' Bent over on the line in the middle of the goal and the person who scored the last goal would get to choose the order of who can shoot at the goalkeepers arse. If you missed you would join him in the goal so it was better if you went last as you would have more people to aim at if they missed.

Knockout - Either in pairs or singles would try and score a target number [normally 2] then that pair or person would go through to the next round and the goal target would go up by one or two each round.

Heads and Volleys -- Each players startson 10 and every header or vlley that goes in takes the score down 1. If a player has the volley or header caught, goes over or wide goes in goal..1st person down to 0 faces the 'tunnel of doom  which would involve making a tunnel against a wall and the loser has to try to run through....

"Annies" -- for two players, each one standing at the opposite sides of a street, with marked goals on the kerbs.

You are allowed: one kick, one header, one knee, one other use of an obscure bodypart (inclusing a handball save from a shot).

Excellent for forcing you to make instant judgements, and for training you to score goals from seemingly impossible positions.

im 16 so i still play games like this but the best ones iv played are

Hot Ass - One goalie and the outfield players must try and score ten goals(or whatever the number is you want) and if the goalie gets scored into that many times then they get the ball blooterd at their ass from 5 yards

and

Records(Wide And Your In) - like catchy got to play the ball on the volley and if it goes wide that person goes in goals and you have to make the goaly get as many scored in to him as possible - my highest record in goals is 145 :(

Catchy - that was called tensies over here because the first to get to 10 won - if the goal scorers won the keeper stayed in and if the keeper one the last to give him a point took his place. And it was 3 corners off the keeper you got a penalty.

And Worldy was simply "FA Cup".

And Champ was called squash!

'ARSE'

About 10 of you would stand in a circle doing keep-ups and passing the ball to each other, you could use any part of the body (except hands obviously) and the ball could not touch the ground. Whoever f*cked up the game and dropped the ball would get the letter 'A' and so forth, and when someone eventually got 'A-R-S-E' they'd go in goal and bend over, and everyone would take turns to shoot them in the arse. Was great but you usually only got the one kick on target, everyone else would bloody miss.

Theres a thousand names for heads and volls.

we call it "One Touch" meaning you have one touch to hit the wall and make the next person miss :D

Trent End Ben
18th February 2008, 19:43
we did "1 man wembley" which was exactly the same as wembley.

"spot" - the one where you kicked it against a wall and lost a life for missing the wall or kicking it twice

"kerby" - where you stood one side of the kerb and tried to hit the other kerb.

them's were the days

we used to play "blood on the wall" at primary school. where you line up along a wall and 2 people blast a ball at you and you have to dodge it.

wallsey, basically spot but 3 misses and you're out.

knockouts/double knockouts.

heads and volls with "tunnels" as the punishment. where the rest of the players stand one behind the other legs open, the loser has to crawl through and get the crap kicked out of them

60 Seconds... Goalkeeper would have to count from 0 - 60 (hence 60 seconds) only stopping when the ball goes out of play or after he's touched it - starting again when one of the outfield lads had touched it. The aim is for the outfield players to score with a header or a volley. Once they've scored one the goalkeeper will start from 0 again. Then the aim is to score two and so on...

The goalkeeper would select either wides or overs and the last outfield player to f*ck up - either play it wide or over depending on the goalkeepers choice, or playing a ball that is caught by the keeper - when the keeper says 60 goes in goal.

Quality face paced game.

Headers & Volleys

Wembley

Bari - same as what Brian described.

same here, the punnishments that came with Headers & Volleys were what made it the most played. One time I hit one against the crossbar and it came down and hit him on the head

Wembley..Legendry. Then we changed it to ' Cardiff ' :laugh:God, you're young!

Did anyone else play "canny"?

A group of us stood in a circle kicking a can around (cos we couldn't afford a football!) Aim of the game was not to be the last person to touch it before it went out of the circle. If you touched it last, well, you got the shit kicked out of you.

Quality thread!
