This might be a very werid thing to post on a football website but I need help.
I sent some of the lyrics that I've written to a girl in Spain. I've never met her before. She said that she thought they were very good and she wanted to use them on a CD she was recording. Today she tells me that she is willing to pay me £2500 per song. She has my e-mail adress from MSN. She will need my home adress to send me the money. And when I asked her how I could be sure it wasn't fraud or something she told me to give her my number and she would get her manger to call me so I could be sure. This made me think even more that it was fraud. My lyrics arn't terrible but I'm pretty sure they're not worth £2500. So, do you think this is bullsh*t or do you think this could be the real deal?
Thank you.

if she is willing to send you a check then you could always set up a p.o box on the cheap, and even if it is a fraud then you haven't lost much
whatever you do, don't give out bank details

Tell her to send it through paypal. Don't give her your home address.

If they have my e-mail & my house address can they do anything?

assumingly they will know your name to. They can in theory gtet loans out in your name and possibly if you have myspace or other could mean your entire identity could be stolen.

Maybe if I make another e-mail address and talk to her....See what happens there. Might be able to find out more about her.

But if that 1 song becomes a success, it could earn her hundreds of thousands.

w.f.c please do not be silly.
Tell her to do one and if your lyrics are pretty decent, send them off to be copyrighted and then join some music and lyric group on the internet or at a library or some place near home.
They do have music clubs around the country.

Glad you listened. Never ever give any details out by phone, e-mail or text.
Always enter the name of the person(s) into Google and do a search for that person. You will find they are fraudsters.
Go check out these websites in the UK and you will find alot of interesting stuff. And good luck to you.

He'd still lose the copyright of the lyrics which could be worth millions. Simple way around it is get a solicitor to handle any contracts and payments.

depends. most writers when they start sell songs on a one of basis the n after a success (we're talking top 40) will get a copyright license

You can apply for a copyright on any material surely. It does not have to be a top 40 song.
I would suggest however that Jonno's idea is sensible but you can get help in deciding by joining song writing groups.

i didn't say you couldn't but its the practice two of my mates who are now in moderately succesful bands have gone through to write for other people when they started out at 16
