Chips and Cheese is lovely. Just like people who have cheese on their baked potato.
I never have and never will eat a deep fried Mars bar. In fact I've never even been in a chippy that did them.

I went to one in Boston once, no idea what it was called though but it was near the ground. At uni I go to the Broomhill Friery for Sausage and chips (quite nice too) but at home it's Queens, fantastic chippy, used to go every day for school dinner (sausage, chips, beans and a can of coke/Irn Bru used to be £1.50).

All chippys round here (well 90%) are owned and run by Chinese and are Chinese Chippys, not so good. I usually get 1/2 Chips, 1/2 Fried Rice and Curry sauce, lovely. Costs about £2.50.
As for Battered Mars Bars, had one once in Crosby near Liverpool. Was bloody gorgeous.

When I was over there last the worst meal I had(apart from a greasy spoon near the Adelphi)was fish and chips at the White Star, a pub on Waterloo St near the Thames. Soggy batter and no taste, ugh...
Here in Trawna there are fewer 'chippies' than there used to be, bloody multiculturism and all that. But you can still get a good meal for two(usually haddock or halibut w/chips and tartar sauce)for around $20 Cdn(less than 10 quid). Fish and chips in the pub? Under ten bucks...:thumb
BTW, in today's paper they talked about a restaurant called Tom's Place in Chelsea where they will soak you FIFTEEN POUNDS for an order!! Is this...
a)Stone bloody bonkers:eeek
b)Proof you Brits have way too much money, or
c)Something else we can blame on Abramovich:slap::p
