As i'm sure you are all aware by now Glentoran shall play Bangor tomorrow in a hastily rearranged fixture after the weather once again through a spanner in the works for what was originally scheduled for today with an early kick-off. I must openly submit that as i work most Saturday's up until twelve that this new date suits me much better as i am in no rush home to get changed etc, collect my daughter and head out in a mad stampede to make the dreaded 1.00 deadline. (That is what we supporters had forced upon us today if the match had went ahead)
I think i have made similar comments in the past before, but i have no problem whatsoever with Sunday football. In fact i would not be surprised if you see a better-than-average turnout amongst supporters from both teams tomorrow, as i think that we have no added attraction such as English Premiership matches on sattelite TV with the added bonus that other supporters, who actually play in various leagues across the province, will also be on a 'day off' and be able to travel to the Oval if they so desire without their usual Saturday afternoon commitment.
Right enought said on that subject. What about the match itself?
Well, personally speaking, i think that the Glens will pip this one. That is not to suggest that this shall be an easy victory, nor never a so-called walkover. No sireee. If the Glens wish to claim three points tomorrow, they will be made to work for them. Any team coached by Marty Quinn should command respect, and we must approach this no differently and by that i mean, with extreme caution. Bangor may have come a cropper last week but they started this campaign off very well and with experienced players such as Darren Lockhart, Nigel Boyd and Marty Verner in their ranks, we must be on our guard.
Right here's our predictions:
Happydaze; Glentoran 2-0 Bangor.
Miss Hapydaze JNR: Glentoran 3-1 Bangor.
