So, do any of you guys play Travian? This place used to have a Travian area, was wondering who still plays.
If not, the address is www.travian.co.uk (http://www.travian.co.uk).

Gawd, Travian, Got totally engrossed in it & it ruled my life at one bit. Fortunately for me I managed to break my addiction & resume a normal life! ;)

You need someone to be watching it while you're offline. You can appoint 2 sitters', they must be other players on that server.
Alan Shearer
28th November 2008, 08:12
They must play that server, you can add their account names to the sitter option in account preferences, they can then login to your account with their password.
You can also play as a dual, you and a friend both run the account, but neither can have another account on that server. :)

Damn. I have just been raided by some dude in a village close to me.
I know its only a game but its made me real angry.....
Alan Shearer

Raid back, build a cranny.
jacktclark
13th December 2008, 10:56
Yeah I have crannied up now. I have got 2 level 10 crannies and one level 5 (soon to be 10).
I havent really got the army to take on the bigger villages yet (only 150 pop) but I am getting there.
I still get raided now and again but I make sure I spend my resources before they go over the cranny levels. Plus I normally go on a fiar bit at work so I avoid giving resources away.
Its a good game, really addictive.
P.S. Which one do you play? Mine is world 2 - my village is Atlantis.
Alan Shearer
13th December 2008, 11:25
Do you use gold?
jacktclark

Only to boost production for 7 days etc. Main resources are wheat, iron, clay and wood.
StretfordEnd
13th December 2008, 16:35
My biggest problem with Travian is the inability to launch attacks from any village but the one where the troops were trained.
I see no point in it and it's hardly realistic?
Come on Mr. Shearer, sort it out! ;)

I am running out of building sites in my city (got 4/5 to go). When I use them all will I get some more? I have noticed I have more potential buildings than spaces.
If not is there anything I should build before I run out of space?
Alan Shearer
15th December 2008, 07:28
You will need to expand to another village.
I recommend you get a residence, you will need to get it to level 10, once you do this you will need to train 3 settlers. These settlers can then be sent of to settle one of those empty sites, you can settle in any empty one. :)

You also need to train some scouts, at least 1 per village. That way you will know if anyone is scouting you prior to an attack.
If someone scouts you with 5 scouts and you have 10 then all their scouts will be killed, and they won't get a report of how many troops you have and what defences you have in place. If however they scout and you have no scouts they'll get a report of what buildings you have, what troop numbers you have and how high your defensive wall is, and you won't even know they've been . . .
jacktclark
15th December 2008, 22:55
Wow its a pretty cunning game.
I have built a palace a few days ago and the residance option has dissapeard but I can still build settlers from there (I think).
I think I will build my first city up first before expanding. If I haven got enough soldiers to defend two cities I might lose one of them.
When is best time to build a new city?
Alan Shearer
16th December 2008, 18:03
ASAP!
But as Stret said, get some scouts and troops first.

You have to attack the oasis and kill the animals, then you need a Hero to conquer it. Once you have an oasis, depending on what kind it is you'll get an increase in your production of between 25% and 50%. The oasis has to be within 3 squares of your village to acquire it.

I noticed that server 4 is re starting tomorrow and I was tempted to change and start again. It would be so much easier now I know how to play the game.

when you get to all wheat fields at level 10 and a fully upgraded bakery and flour mill and using gold to boost, is there any other way to boost wheat production?
I notice that some villages have thousands of troops, how will they get the wheat production to feed them all if not?

In your Capital you can continue to build the fields up and up, way past level 10. If you have a 15 cropper as your capital it can therefore sustain thousands and thousands of troops.

And those are smaller attacks than usual (that's the 3rd attack I've had for hitting level 75 because I had a couple of Wonder Killer Armies do some damage a couple of weeks ago
Once you reach level 95 they attack at every level so as a wonder holder you need a couple of million troops in your village in order to defend against them .... feeding them is a nightmare,
I've played for 3 or 4 years on and when I started this sever I said I would go for a wonder and I have ... I also said it will probably be the last game I play and to be honest I don't think I'll change my mind about that either.

I have another question guys.
I have a level 15 Heros mansion in my capital. Can I conquer another oasis now from that village? I thought I could and I thought it could be anywhere on map (I know first one has to be within same 7x7 square with village in middle)?
However, I sent in two waves to get the oasis, the first killing all but 3 rats:slap: and the second (containing the hero) finished them off but I didnt conquer the oasis. The oasis is only on the next 7x7 to grid to me (not on map with my villge in middle). Why didnt I take it? Do all Oasis have to be within the same 7x7 square with capital in middle? Or do I have to send Hero in afterwards without killing anyone?

My alliance is going for a WW but the paranoid leaders dont give us any information....no screen shots....no battle reports. Only a hand ful of players are involved in 'playing' the endgame and all the rest are allowed to do is send wheat and troops.
