Apparently they are on strike, something to do with a dispute with the Gurns officials.

Well I think the Gurns should have took further neccessary precautions.
Would Cliftonville have been repponsible for the actions of any Gurns fans in there section of the ground had there been an occurance?

I cannot comment on any of your claims and grievances, LM, as I was not at the match last night. I am also not going to tell you any confounded lies about my reasons for not being there either. The simple truth is that I could not be bothered.
That has got nothing to do with Cliftonville football club though, if you read the odd post of mine on this section you would have noticed that I am a bit pissed off about our overall general play so far this season. We have not been good from the word go and I consider it a miracle that we now only find ourselves two points behind the Blues with a game in hand.(Although, i'm obviously very pleased about this.)
I'll be there on Saturday but I am finding it hard to motivate myself to attend mid-week matches no matter who the opposition is. I am starting to get into a bit of a rut and finding it hard to get myself out of it.

I was there and didnt notice the lack of stewards or even hear wind of it. Wjy were the two that were there useless?
Great wee night at solitude. Decent performance with gazza back on form and some brilliant goals. Atmosphere was good due to the legion 1882 boys and cliftonville were crap. Good times.

The Leigon 1882 boys did indeed add a bit of atmosphere and some nice banners as well.

Well to be honest if you cant be bothered to comment then thats fair enough.
What I do know that your "stewards" are on some form of strike. We were informed of this after another FF forumer spoke with a Cliftonville steward regarding something at the game.
I always thought that every club had a duty to provide a certain amount of stewards at each game home and away. well with the obvious exception of the Gurns.

There was 2 stewards standing at the top left of the stand.
They were asked by Cliftonville stewards to remove an unneccasary flag, which was provacative but was also covering display boards that sponsers pay good money to advertise on. (if you notice NO cliftonville flags were hanging over advertising boards), the response from the so called gurns stewards was "no way, there is only 2 of us and were not getting involved in anything like that, we dont want to know". when asked why wasnt there anymore, the response was "there on strike for some disagrement they have with the club"
The Gentleman who made the complaint informed us of this.
So as I said - the 2 numpties were useless.

The Legion 1882 boys did a good job on Tuesday. That wee away stand is perfect for doing a display if organised correct.

Yeah was impressed with the Legion display before the game - fair dues to them.

fair enough our club is too blame then for not bringing enough stewards to deal with the situation. The two who seem to have been there cannot be blamed for not wanting to get into a volatile situation, but as you have said were therefore "useless".

Cheers Dean at least I got a sensible response from a Gurns supporter on here.
I was mearly just raising a point, with hope that maybe one of you Gurns supporters could have shed some light on this so called "strike".

What was the "completely unnecessary and provocative flag"?
As for covering advertising hoardings, are you telling me that when the reds play away from home your banners never cover other clubs advertising hoardings?

I myself have only glanced through the posts on this thread, paying little or no attention and considered nothing whatsoever of relevance or indeed a sinister element to 'bite back' at so to speak.
But your quote in bold capitals has now caught my attention.
Can someone online here who was present at this match please explain to me what exactly was this 'provocative flag' that was displayed?
If it was the flag of some outlawed paramilitary group, then, yes, I can indeed sympathise and direct action should have been taken.
However, if it was indeed the flag of this country, the flag of the United Kingdom, then I have no problem with that whatsoever.

Takes a bloo to come on here and seemingly snatch the bait, hate the issue of flags and tbh the flag subjects usually go round in circles, pety argument if you ask me, anyhow ive enquired about said flag and it was the flag off Israel...

All I did was ask what flag was so provocative?
As you've replied a Israeli flag, can anyone who finds this flag "completely offensive and unnecessary" explain to me the difference between it (not literally) and the pro palestine flags flown by your supporters on your last visit to Windsor (Unsteady Eddie Day)? Or indeed the T shirt displayed by one of your players?

The question was directed more at those who made the statement about "provocative" flags.
