I love smoking weed, but only as a social thing if you're smoking a lot of it. A coupla joints here and there are OK when its just a couple of u but i don't smoke it on my own.

I smoke cigarettes too but its minging. They are thebiggest waste of money u will ever see. What's really bad is that my mum will send me for a cig now even tho she hates the fact i smoke coz of the mood i get in when i need one and can't have one :mad: I'd love to quit.

Super - I was surprised to hear that you smoke weed as you don't look the type. Not that there is a type really...

To any smokers who want to quit you should just quit you can do it. I did. Two months ago - cold turkey. Haven't touched one since and haven't wanted to either. I've been smoking since I was 14 (on and off - more on than off). It's worse when you go out on the piss as you can end up smoking about a pack an evening. I went out with a mate of mine once and we demolished about 2 packs each in an evening of sustained drinking. However, I do go thru funny stages though. I gave up cos I didn't like the way it made me feel. Tight chest, coughing all the time, scummy throat and over here they've hiked the prices to about 8 bucks (roughly about 5 quid). Scandalous? I'll bloody say.
What I really hate though are those non smokers who are always telling smokers that they should quit cos it isn't good for them. Really?? What the health notice on the pack wasn't enough? Nor the threat of cancer not an incentive? If the threat of a painful demise and the Government health warnings can't make me stop, then what makes these cretins think that some tosser, who feigns concern over my well being, is gonna succeed where they've failed??

My gran smoked 20 a day for most of her life. She was 93 when she died!
I'm smoking a lot at the moment cos i'm stressed, but normally I smoke about 10-15 a day, when i'm at home, less if I'm at work.
I started when I was 14, but i did give it up both times when I had my kids. Dunno why I started again really, but at least I don't smoke in the same room as them.

I used to smoke between 25 - 40 ciggies a day, and gave up on New Years eve. Went cold turkey and haven't touched one yet (I think this is where you all say well done;))

I gave up because I wanted to, not because people were telling me to give up. In fact, the more people that nagged, the more I did smoke, just to annoy the hell outta them. A smoker is a smoker, no matter what goverment warnings are on a pack, or what people say. If somebody wants to smoke, then so be it. They have the right to make up their own mind on whether they want it or not!

Example my own Father...never smoked joined the Royal Marines at 15..he lied about his age...spent 25 years in the armed forces...has always be very fit and active...last year a heart attack now he is on medicines for the rest of his life....

Why can't people just accept that is a persons own decision if they wish to smoke or not??...If somebody tries to ban me smoking outside...I'd sue the git for noise pollution with their constant moaning....probably sue them cos they ain't got a cat exhaust system...and finally have them up on a human rights charge...

If I wanna kill meself...let me, got nowt to do with anybody else...though technically that could be classed as suicide so I could get done for that then??..

I smoked 20 a day for 10 years but now only smoke when drinking. Doesn't bother me at all at any other time but in the pub with a pint.....impossible not to light up.

Oh and apart from when I smoke weed (only once or twice a week though).

On the subject of bongs, my mate made one out of Nescafe jars and rubber tubes. It was named General Grizzler and used to regulary hit the spot, until my mam found it. Doh.

Don't worry I shan't go in to the reasns why you shouldn't smoke I don't think I'd get very far - vastly outnumbered it seems! But how/why did you start smoking in the first place? Peer pressure, trying to look 'cool'(:laugh:), impress some luvverly ladies (or lads)?? How much do you spend on ciggies a week??

Embarresingly enough it was to try and look older to get served in pubs when 16. Obviously it didn't make me look older.
Starting smoking is one of my biggest regrets as I just can't (completley) kick the habit.

I myself smoke cigs occasionally, but not that much since it can be a bit harmful, usually at parties, i stick to weed, good stuff, but too much can get you real down sometimes...last year i got stoned at a party on weed, sort of passed out, and when i woke up, everyone had written their names all over my body following the names up with 'was here'. ****ing weird, so i keep it lower now, at least low enough to not let that happen again, its tough sh1t.

Personally I wouldn't want to have anything to do with weed smokers - just because of the type of people that they are.

I don't like spending much time with ciggy smokers either - just because I hate the stuff and just the smell of it makes me feel sick.

But hey - I can't complain - being a non-smoker gives me an advantage over others just by itself. Tax the hell out of it I say. :clap:

Smoking is :

The only reason anyone starts smoking is to look big and cool, usually when they are aged about 13; thankfully the majority grow out of it. What the Government should really be doing is cracking down big-style on corner shop owners who sell fags to kids.

I know someone whose dad never smoke din his life but was a trumpet player in a jazz band and - cos of playig in smoky pubs/clubs - has now got inoperable lung cancer. The sad thing is that he is a genuinly nice guy and would never of thought of the shit all that smoke was doing to his lungs.

That is singly one of the most stupid thing I have ever read. It's like saying u wouldnt want anything to do with people woh drink alcohol or people who do this or that. Just because people have one thing in common does not make them all the same. As Dave said, people from all social classes backgrounds etc smoke weed. I would bet in my college well over 50% have toked on a joint at some point in their lives. It doesn't make them any less of a person. (And before anyone starts no my college isn't rough, it's one of the best in Bolton - second only to Athers'. Right Athers? ;))

People who smoke weed are not a particular type of person. My mum and dad both know I have smoked it in the past and they don't mind if I still smoke it so long as it's not in daft amounts. They've both done it themselves, but no until well after I had. They went to Amsterdam a bit ago and since then me and my brother have bin teaching them bout weed. They even asked me to roll for them a couple of weeks ago so they could try out some skunk we had. But they're both respectable middle aged people from a middle class background.

And to the people who are lecturing about smoking, as has been said before, we know. It p1sses me off when people tellme smoking isn't good for me. I know that, I'm not actually naive enough to believe that breathing smoke and god knows whatever else into my lungs on a regular basis is good for me, but it's my choice. I've heard all the talk before about smoking. Why you shouldn't, what you do to yourself when you do, blah, blah, bollox. Personally, I could give a toss who does or doesn't - nor do I feel that it is my duty to enforce my will on the dos or don'ts or why or wherefors of others.

My mother is a nurse and she has spent the last 15 to 20 years regaling us with tales of those unfortunate souls who indulge in the dreaded weed.

Alchemy - exactly what type of people smoke weed? My wife used to be a major pot head in her younger days and to look at her you'd never guess that she does pot or was that "type of person".

Like Valley I feel that it is always harder to drink and not smoke but I have done this when I quit for 3 months about 8 years back.

Oh to those halcyon days of smoking loads of cigarettes and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. Boy, do I miss those days!! :cry: :cry:

(Though I don't miss the head like a medicine ball nor the permanent whooping cough... okay - I do..)

Agree with the others though, but it'll not make me stop. The only thing that would make me stop is if I want to, or if I get sick of my Dad nagging everytime I visit.

I'm a smoker, started young trying to look cool and it took hold. I think I'm considerate, I'll try to avoid smoking around non-smokers, or go outside. I will stop if and when I want to, I can read the packet.
Probably a generalization, but I don't hang around pot heads either. IMHO, the ones that smoke it the most, are the ones that need it the least. That is just my observation living here.
