Went to the Transport Museum with the kids yesterday and there was an exhibition there with loads of model railway layouts, some very well done indeed!

But there were hardly any kids there at all with the exhibits, all old farts! :fart:

They were just sittin there twiddling their knobs and watching their choo choos go round and round, occasionally bringing out a different set to watch. There was even one old lass with all the Thomas The Tank Engine trains and she talked to them and asked them to stop etc  .

Disaster struck at one place though with a derailment of a loco pulling wagons full of logs. Very messy it was.

Anyway - can u see yourself in a few years doing this sorta thing? I can just see InSite getting hooked on it........... :D

I think why it is older people with this passion is because of when they were young there was not the same things to do at the time TV etc etc...
Although just sitting there watching them go round and round is taking it too far...as for that derailment was you that but a concrete block on the track wasn't it??

A decent scalextric layout is far more fun...and if you got that dodgy TR7 you gotta keep moving to put it back on the track....

I am the demon driver of that black escort mexico..

Used to play with my bro's train set all the time when we were kids. Hornby 00 gauge GWR pannier engine with 8 trucks and the guards van. What fun we had, used to go up the model shop every few weeks to buy extras too, level crossings, points, turntables etc. My fave was always the tunnel, specially if you put the truck remover thingy, in there, so only half the train would come out the other side!
We had loads of stuff. Must dig it out of the loft sometime............
