Well bluenose, as every fan of the Irish league knows for the last few years Glentoran have created more chances than any other team but simply failed to score. Take examples such as our home defeat against Omagh town and Newry last term. We should have had the matchs well and truly wrapped up by half time but we payed for the missed chances and lost valuable points. As Big Coyler stated at the end of the County Antrim shield final, if we had Spike we would have had the trophy and all before half time. We have not had a good striker since Kirk left and Fitzgerald in my opinion isn't an out-an-out striker. So no wonder Judas was the top scorer, he was the only striker and the amount of chances he got laid on a plate for him he should have scored 3 times as much. But don't fear now we have Darren "The Goal Machine" Armour

So basically what your saying is that all your strikers were crap last season and couldn't serve their main purpose which is to score goals. Then you start gurning
Coyler style that if you had Ferguson the league would be over by Christmas etc. Well why don't yous have Ferguson? Would it be because he turned yous down to sign for us because we're a bigger, better club.
Also what does it say about Coyler as a manager if he puts together a useless forward line. Oh how yous must be jealous when yous look across at windsor and see Glenn Ferguson, Davey Larmour, Chris Morgan and Craig McCracken all fighting to get into the starting line-up. A very different problem compared with the one the glens face.
Of course it will be different next season now that yous have Darren"1st division" Armour. Bearing in mind he is your only out and out goalscorer what happens when he gets injured? Well i'm sure we'll hear Roy Coyle moan "If only we'd Glenn Ferguson in our team....."

the reason as to why the glens have not performed in the league is clear
for the big matchs eg: boxing day, any big two matchs, cup matchs and cup finals (or semi-finals as the case may-be ) the glens are well up for it, apart from that appauling display at boxing day, when the glens played their worst ever big two match as some have said
once the glens find a striker who can hit the net week in, week out, like stuarty 2 years ago, they will be a formidable force. even playing against the small teams like coleraine (terry ) in the winter months they will kick ass like they do with scum in every match of the season

Rite firstly why do all the bluedogs refer to Darren Armour as "First Division" In his previous season in the premier with Distillery when he was injured for half the season and also they got relegated he managed to tuck away 17 goals. Not bad eh!! And so far, and I know these are only friendlies but he has scored 5 in 3 full matches.
Ferguson is sheer class. A Very good striker (although not as good as Armour will be). And you are right we did try to sign him but at that time we didn’t really need him. We had Kirk and Elliot to name but a few who were doin the job. You offered him more money cause you needed him more so obviously he went. Nothing to do with you being a "BIGGER" club
As for the gurning, well I didn't once last season but I felt like it sometimes with all them missed chances. But at the end of the season things turned out for the best. We were not consistent enough to win the league but we managed to lift 3 cups.
But it is the start of a new era I feel. With the best keeper in the country supported by the best defence, recently strengthened with the best left back (Tommy McDonald ha ha haa) and with a very attacking midfield which is by far the best in front providing service to Armour and whoever else the lucky fella is to play alongside him. Well it looks like the east is going to be in for a great season once more
Well said Culb. And now it looks like Glentoran have the best support, on this, as well as in Ulster!!

Regardless of the reason why Ferguson signed for us we are undoubtedly a bigger club. This is because we are more successful, have more fans and have a better team than the the glens. I think you're kiddding yourself if you think otherwise just because yous have a couple more supporters on this forum.
As for the glens having a better defence, well dream on. The partnership between Bailie and Winkie Murphy is phenomenal and meant we had the best defensive record in the league last season. We have further strengthened that department by the signing of Darren Murphy. Also why the criticism of Tommy McDonald? He is rock solid and when going forward he puts Pele to shame.
So Hoggy don't go looking for weaknesses when there clearly aren't any.

bluenose it is not our fault that we are the only team in the league to consistently beat you's.
had some other teams beat you's lot in the league or had we stopped beating ourselves by playing crap against the smaller teams the league would clearly be dominated by the glens. look at the ridiculous number of points you's lot were winning by in january- but we had still beaten you's lot on practically every occasion
you's lot do not win the league, it is the glens who lose the league. the gibson cup's home is east belfast
p.s the glens have the best, true support in the north unlike the few rangers supporters who turn up to pack out section F at windsor park and those who catch the supporters taxi to the home of football-east belfast

Mate you are simply trying to argue with facts when they are your opinion. You were more sucessful in the past but in present years the Glens are simply the best. I have a few facts for you.
Glentoran have appeared in Europe more times than any other team in Ireland.
Glentoran since 1998 have won 11 trophies compared to Linfields 7.
Glentoran supporters have an identity. They have their own colours, traditions and songs. Name a Linfield song that the supporters sing nowadays that Rangers supporters do not sing.
Linfields stadium is payed for by Irish league fans.
Tommy McDonald or Mark Glenndinning. Hmmmmm..... Hard decision but I think any Irish League manager would go for Glenndinning.

You did have the best defensive record last season, but take a look at ours now. Glenndinning, Smyth, Leeper and Nixon. Frightening I know!!!
The reason there is not as many bluemen on this is
A - Because the majority of them have the Rangers badge by their name and are more interested in the Scottish section.
B - It proves that Bluemen are not as Computer literate as Glenmen.
C - The internet is not very popular in The Shankill Road slums
So im looking forward to your response Bluenose!!!

Its typical of glenmen to boast about about having passionate supporters etc. when they aren't performing as well as Linfield on the pitch.
Of course Linfield have their own songs, traditions etc. I'm sure when they decided upon their colours in the 19th century the colours of Glasgow Rangers had no bearing on it. I hardly think yous have more passionate supporters anyway. Just look at how the Bluemen easily outsing the Glenmen at every Big 2 encounter.
Also the reason why there are more glenmen on this site is because Kampso went onto the Londonglens site and told them about it. Otherwise he would be the only glenman here!!
So stop talking rubbish Hoggy and face facts - Linfield are/were and always will be the greatest team in the irish league!!
