The BBC says it will screen the final two episodes of hit comedy "The Office" on BBC One this Christmas.
It will transfer the bittersweet satire set in a Slough paper merchant from BBC Two in a bid to attract higher ratings.
"We wanted to make sure that the widest number of viewers got a chance to watch the last two episodes ever," said BBC Director of Television Jana Bennett on Wednesday.
Actor Ricky Gervais`s toe-curling boss David Brent has given the BBC a surprise hit which has been sold to TV stations in more than 60 countries.
Gervais, who co-wrote the series, won two BAFTA awards in April and was named the most powerful figure in television comedy in a poll by the Radio Times earlier this year.

Should definitely be good, especially now they know what's making it such a hit.

Depends what you look for in a sitcom really. Phoenix Nights is a lot more slapstick and out of control than the subtle, fly-on-the wall humour of The Office. I like 'em both.

The Office closed itself up fantastically in the last series. The final episode was terribly tragic, quite beautiful really. I'm just afraid that they'll spoil it with new episode.
Phoenix Nights is a better comedy, but the Office offers more than just laughs imo.

"If you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain"
"You know which philosopher said that? Dolly Parton. And people say she's just a big pair of tits."

C'mon Horsey, admit it - you're dying to know if they kept Brent on or not, just as much as the rest of us!;)

Look at the so called cult comedies of recent years such as Fawlty Towers and The Young Ones. They both only had 12 episodes(2 series) like The Office. The end of the second series of The Office was left open with many permutations to keep the viewers guessing as to what would happen. But it was also a good way to finish it. I fear they may ruin it with the two Christmas specials but I am a fan and look forward to them all the same.

The Office is one of the great comedies of our time(along with Phoenix nights of course) but I also fear that 2 further episodes will spoil the ending which everybody seemed content with.

They sacked him. That was obvious from the final episode. He begged for his job back and they refused, they brought Gareth through to replace Brent.
I taped the whole series 2, as I did with series 2 of Phoenix Nights. If anyone stole that tape from me I swear I'd bomb their house.
