Right, my exchange is being enabled next week and i need advice. Ive decided to go with pipex on their 1mbit connex for 29,99 a month. Only problem is i need advice on a decent adsl modem. The one pipex supplies is an Alcatel SpeedTouch 330. Im just wondering if its any good, otherwise ill get the wires only adsl.

Cheers

another point, ive decided that i might put the other pc & xbox on the adsl too, and was wondering how to go about this? I havent got a clue with routers, i know some have adsl modems in them, but do i need a seperate network hub? I was checking out netgears site and it appears to be this way. Are wireless routers any good? Any loss in performace to normal cable ones? I dont know, im hoping someone knows something to help me :(

I got adsl and I use a westell modem

The westell has a built-in router, but I don't trust the damn thing. (bellsouth, my isp, charges an extra $10/mo to use it as a router). I went out and bought a $50 Linksys router, told my modem to be a gateway, and I got three comptuters, a ps2, a HTPC, and a xbox hookedup on my router.

To use my PS2 online, i just went and bought a long ethernet cable to go from the modem to the PS2 in the next room. It means reseting the modem each time and i cant use my PC and PS2 at the same time, but its saved me 50 quid!
