You don't have to buy one, the hard shoulder of your nearest motorway will be littered with those that have fallen off . . .

I only like the idea of flags flying from Cars if your actually going to a game, most people I've seen with them have never been to a football match
I got mine from an Esso Petrol station :)

The flags on cars are illegal - my mate got a ticket by the old bill yesterday. They sid that 'it poses a hazard by either injuring omeone by either hitting them or getting caught up in their clothes'. Silly but thats what they said. £50 fine they gave him too :(

What a load of twaddle. There was a peice in our local rag where the coppers were asking people to make sure they are fastened to cars properly, but they ain't illegal.

If they are secured properly, and not sticking out too much (hazard to cyclists etc) then they should be ok

Personally I don't mind where or when they are flown.........I happen to like the country getting behind there national side.
I'm interested to know Tommy did you stop these flag flyers and ask if they had been to a football match before:rolleyes:................besides what if they had'nt been to a match before.....'whats the problem'..............there is'nt a monopoly on supporting your national side!!!!

Personally I get annoyed by them. Why only fly them during a major tournement? Surely if you loved your country you'd have them on all year round.
Also I do agree with Tommy's point that the majority of people who have these flags don't even follow football (there's about 4 at my work). Remember football is for life just a major tournement.

So you'd rather they didn't fly the flag? Nothing wrong with showing support, Tommy. If they flew them all year roud they'd probably get accused of being racist :(
Can't believe the Police(or most forces anyway, Essex Police are OK with them :) )are deeming these illegal. They stick on fine, and there's little chance they'll fall off. Too fussy the police, let people show some patriotism!

the essex police have only stopped people who have too large flags. i.e the ones that you hang out of windows. the smaller ones are fine.

Putting a flag in your window or on your car obviously never affects the sporting event in question, but nevertheless for special occasions (such as journeys to Cardiff) I do like showing who I'm following.
For England I do have a flag I which had in my window at Uni before I left (can have proper gravy now I'm home) but I had that pretty much the whole year (partially to help block out direct sunlight onto my bed).
Won't probably get one for the car this summer, but if I'm driving to Germany 2006 for instance I'll probably get one then as I'll feel like I'm going to the event, not to ASDA or to the barbers or something.

No problems if your there or not. My problem is people who couldn't give a w*nk about England until a major tournement comes around and then choose to jump on the bandwagon. FOOTBALL IS FOR LIFE, NOT JUST A MAJOR TOURNEMENT!

Too many to remember.
I have chosen not to attend England friendlies from now on though due to the FA's policy of trying to make them family occasions where you have people all around you who find the need to paint their face, wear a stupid wig and blow a horn.

Gutted, mate of mine's family won Barclaycard's fans of the year. 30 odd of them go to Bolton together and the prize was a trip to Portugal.
Barclaycard have paid for 15 people to go and watch England. Fair play, but surely it would have been better to send people that aren't Irish?

Aye yeah read about them.
By the way does everyone know that every MP in 'The all-party football group' get to go to every game they want for free inc. flights and accomodation? Even David Blunkett has a ticket for tonight.

Yes, McDonalds are supplying them with food during the match as well. Good to see the healthy image of pedometres and walking everywhere doesn't apply when trips to football are involved.
Seems about a good respresentation of parliament then.
