He is due to do a documentary abour racism in football/society. Surely he shouldn't be allowed anyway near a TV camera after them comments he made?

maybe not, but he was a great addition to the itv team for many years. I think he should be allowed back on tv again. i think he knows what he said was wrong and should be allowed to forget about it and be brought back on tv. Possibly BBC or SKY.

That's a matter of opinion.

He knows it was wrong because he got sacked for it and he's sorry because he got caught out. He's obviously used to using that language and is an uneducated racist prick. If that's the type of person you want fronting documentaries about racism - for his own agenda so he can salvage a bit of respect - then fine.

I'd have to buy a widescreen TV to make sure he'd fit on my tele if he was to make a comeback.

Can't see him getting back on the telly after what he said to be honest. People can forgive many things but racism isn't one of them, especially in today's society. The comparison with Deayton doesn't eally hold water - there was no 'victim' in that case. If he wants to shag hookers and snort cocaine in his spare time then that's his business - it's no better or worse than what half the Tory population of the Commons get up to of a weekend.

I hope he doesn't get back on telly, it's time to move on from him and his old fashioned 'Ronglish' shite.

The sooner he is back on our screens the better - Johnny English may not have been all that, but Mr Bean, The Thin Blue Line and the Blackadder series are all absolutely class. Get him back on!!

Think of all the classic ron goofs we are missing out on. He should be on his own channel just in case we need a Ron fix.

Surely it got coverage down-under ??
Put it this way it wasnt his usual 'lollipop' or 'eyebrows' crap he comes out with.
It was a six letter outburst directed at Desailly it was all uncalled for Desailly never would have thought of calling Atkinson 'Cheap Orange Trash' or a 'Fake Tan Chunky Boy' ;)
And after all that theh best Ron could do was say
"It left me no option but to resign. At the moment I can't believe I did it. It was just a moment of stupidity.
"I was very frustrated during the game because I thought Cheslea could have won. I regret making the comments and I apologise to anyone I may have offended.
"If you look at my track record as a player, I was one of the first in the game to give oranges a chance, especially at half time."

Seriously what has Ron ever done?
Knowledge of the Game
They've done the old-fashioned things well; they've kicked the ball, they've headed it...
I've had this sneaking feeling throughout the game that it's there to be won.
Woodcock would have scored, but his shot was too perfect. ???
Now Manchester United are 2-1 down on aggregate, they are in a better position than when they started the game at 1-1
Mastery of Language
The metaphor
Beckenbauer has really gambled all his eggs.
Tony Adams - he's the rock that the team has grown from.
Chelsea look like they've got a couple more gears left in the locker. :salute:
Clarity
I would also think that the replay showed it to be worse than it actually was. ?
He's not only a good player, but he's spiteful in the nicest sense of the word. :dunce:
The keeper was unsighted - he still didn't see it.
That was Pele's strength - holding people off with his arm.
Decisiveness
I wouldn't say Ginola is the best left winger in the Premiership,
but there are none better.
Well , either side could win it, or it could be a draw. (hes quick)
Awareness
Moreno thought that the full back was gonna come up behind and give him one really hard.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition don't like it - you can see it all over their faces ??
Zidane is not very happy, because he's suffering from the wind.
THE GAME IS BETTER OFF WITHOUT HIM NOW

He called Marcel Desailly a ****ing lazy 'N' word when he thought the camera had been turned off.
However the camera was still broadcasting in the Middle East where ITV recived a mass of complaints from people who heard his racial slur.
He was always a cocksucker anyway. :)

He's now been removed from the FHM adverts in which a fit woman would come on and he'd say,
"That's a honey! Get you free 2004 edition of FHM high street honeys free with FHM."

Society 5 – 0 Ron Atkinson

Methinks Ron still has a long while to spend in purgatory yet.
As has been mentioned earlier, racism is a sore issue in our society. Whether he's a bigot or just an idiot who speaks before he thinks (and our experience of Big Ron suggests that either is very possible), he still has to spend more time on the sidelines before people will be satisfied, however good some might have thought he was, and however boring Andy Townsend is these days.
Think about it. If he comes back now, Ron will have missed just 2 champion's league matches. A small punishment for such an inflamitory comment.
Ultimately, he is a celebrity, and sometimes in the celebrity world image is more important than reality. Whatever the reality behind Ron's racial feelings, whether he's a Martin Luther King or a Govenor of Alabama, his image of being a racist may mean that people don't want to take him back.

People seem to be overlooking Desailly's role in all of this. Had he not been so crap Atkinson would never have said those things. In a way it was a lack of professionalism on the Frenchman's part. Free the ITV one.
