After the 50s edition of this last year they're now doing a 60s version with 16 year olds.
The first Geography lesson (instead of talking about rivers/clouds etc.) the 'Headmaster' had a map of the British Isles with country borders and dots of the main cities, and got the pupils to point out things on it.
First lad got 'England' right but then got 'Scotland' wrong. After that followed a procession of them selecting Manchester and Liverpool where Birmingham is, Belfast is where Dublin is and most worrying a girl from central London thinking Plymouth was where London is. Her excuse? "If I go anywhere I'll look just get the train."
I despair sometimes about my (albeit slightly younger) peers.
