Women should never drive. They should be chauffeured.

You really are spot on... there are of course a few good women drivers, my mum and my girlfriend are, and they BOTH comment on the fact that women drivers are shocking.

Perfect example today. I was driving along, and this big f*ck off Range Rover pulls out in front of me, i had to break quite hard.

I continued up the road behind in towards a mini roundabout, we are both going straight on. Car starts to turn right from the opposite direction, meanging we should give way. Does the Range Rover?? Does it bollocks!! Barges straight accross. I stop to give way and exchange a 'jesus christ, roll eyes,' look with driver that was nearly rammed off the road.

Anyway, so I'm behind the Range Rover again waiting at traffic lights... they turn green, and as they do so I hear a siren, so I'm on the lookout. Just as we move off, I see the ambulance coming from the right and i brake. Does the Range Rover?? Does it Bolloks!!! Again, looks of disbelief are exchanged between myself and the ambulance driver.

And finally, driving along a road, still following the same range rover, when suddenly out of the blue, it slams its breaks on and pulls off to the side to park. Good job I was paying attention, i had to break and serve to aviod messing up my car.

I practically stopped to look in the vehicle, and you guessed it... a woman!! (also blonde). She looked at me so I gave her a hand gesture to let her know of my feelings.

And believe me, this was NOT an isolated incident.

There are plenty of bad drivers on the road, and although the average woman driver is piss poor, I find white van men and bus drivers to easily be the worse. Bus drivers are f*cking awful, they never let you out, but they expect you to let them out whenever they require, and if you don't they'll pull out in front of you anyway. White van men not so bad, but drive like complete c*nts in their rusted, filthy piece of sh*t.

This thread has just reminded me of a bit of road rage I had the other day as well. Some fat b*stard in an old land rover completely cut me off on a round about.

I was on the inside lane to turn right, and he decided to start in the outside lane and cut into the inside with no indication or even looking where he was going, so of course I slammed on the brakes and swore, and he shook his fist at me, and I made the ****** gesture to him. He slammed on his brakes, I skidded and stopped but was well back from him, and he jumped out his land rover and started shouting "come on then!" in the middle of a main road. I just done up my window, locked my door and said "get back in the car you fat c*nt." Not much he could do except get back in and drive off in a huff with a load of road workers laughing at him.

Came even closer the other day to crashing though, some gimp in a mini van decided just to pull out in front of me on a round about, and I had to brake very hard, and must've been centimetres away from going in the back of him.

Even my missus admits that women drivers are crap. When she is walking the kids to school she notices its always male drivers and NEVER female drivers who would slow down or stop to let them cross the road. The women drivers even those with kids in the back would never give way and just plough on.

Exactly. One of the reasons why women never say thanks when you let them through, is because they don't dare to take one of their hands off the wheel.

Taxi drivers are far worse, i fecking hate taxi drivers, they never let anyone out, and they always try for gaps that clearly are not there forcing you off the road. Even worse in Citys.

Women, i tend to find its older women, middle age to pensioners that pootle about to much, and dither about, they can never park either.

Women drivers are poor in my experience. When I was involved in an accident it was however deemed my fault and not the female causee who turned right without looking  I dislike Urban Assault Vehicles (can't park 'em, can't see anything from 'em) carrying one child to school when a hatchback would suffice.

Tailgating... hmm, its wrong really but I must admit if I'm in a 60 zone, and someone is doing 40, and there is no one in front of them, I'll go right up their arse (so to speak). Get a move on!! However if there is a big long line in front of them, that is different. And if someone was tailgating me in the same situation I'd get right royaly pissed off.

My gran once pulled out of a parking spot without indicating, causing an oncoming car to brake sharply. Another car rammed into the back of him, and another car into the back of that one.

As she started driving off, my dad exclaimed "Mum, there's an accident behind you".

"Nothing to do with me" she said, and drove off!

In general I think Women drivers are dodgy enough in their own way. Statistics tell you they have less accidents than men however what they fail to point out is that if a man and woman are both in a car at once it is invariably the man who drives. 65% or so accidents are caused by men yet almost 90% of vehicles are driven by men, the conclusion being if a woman is driving they are actually 3x as likely to have an accident but luckily they don't drive too much.

This thread has also told me however that Da and Bluetonic are also crap drivers.

bus drivers are f*cking awful, they never let you out, but they expect you to let them out whenever they require, and if you don't they'll pull out in front of you anyway.

If you are too dumb to realise the risks involved in driving or too dumb to reaslise what the basic rules of the road are (the super simple version they put in the highway code) then you are probably too dumb to be allowed to drive a car imo.

There is no need to go onto the other side of the road just to go past a cyclist, you can quite easily go past leaving enough room just by touching the painted line in the middle of the road.

Yeah I didn't quite get that one.

But Benj is a naughty boy, that sounds you are impatient to me. The bike could lose balance and go under that car. I know that its very unlikely, but what if it did happen?? I always give cyclists as much room as a car. I used to cycle everywhere, So I give them the respect I expected.

Same goes for motorbikes. I also ride one of them, and car drivers are f*cking awful to me when I am. When in a car, I treat them like I would want to be treated... People get pissed off when motobikes drive up the middle of the road during a traffic jam and try to stop me coming through. Do they know how dangerous that is, and how difficult it is to keep slipping the clutch and stopping and start on a motorbike?! I think not.

Well that depends on the width of a road, but certainly not a normal stanard road. For the reasons I just said and plus driving that close can create a gust of wind. I know from experience, and I always appreciated drivers giving me plenty of room.

Phew ... glad I got rid of my Freelander a couple of months ago then ;)

Coming slightly to the defence of women drivers (I know that the majority of them are terrible drivers) I feel compelled to say that when somone cuts mt up it's generally a man trying to force his way into a space that isn't there.

My grandmother passed her test on the 16th attempt, to my knowledge mt grandfather only let her drive twice after that day anyway (thank goodness).

My Grandfather also had insurance to say anyone on the planet could drive his car ...except my Dad ... who miraculously worked his way through 21 cars in 4 years ... some of that number being my grandfathers cars

I'm a pretty good driver, although very impatient.

Women drivers do bother me but what bothers me most is people that don't know how to use Motorways correctly. Lane Discipline in this country is so poor!

Prime exapmle came on Saturday when on the M62 heading towards Manchester for the football. Matthew is in the middle lane and can't get out because the Lexus in the outside lane is only doing 60mph, and the BMW behind is tailgating him. The woman in front of me is also doing 60mph and it is quite clear that I want to get past her and there is open road in front ogf her. A little glance to the left tells me that the inside lane is clear. For MILES. does she want to get over... does she f*ck?! After a certain amount of shouting and swearing, flashiong my headlights and pointing to the inside lane, she still hasn't taken notice, so Matthew (being very impatient, remember) decides to undertake the lady because she was pissing him off (I know I'm naughty but if people could use the motorways properly, intelligent drivers like myself would not have to do such things) and Matthew pulls back in to the middle lane and the daft bitch in the Peugeot 307 decides to put her headlights on FULL BEAM, thus nearly blinding me!!! What a stupid bitch.

People should be made to do Pass Plus and taught to use the motorways properly.

Have to admit to doing this myself, learnt to drive in fathers 2litre fuel injected petrol Passat. 40- 40 drivers piss me off. they drive 40 through a 60 and hold up the traffic and then as soon as u they get to a 30 they speed up. wots the deal with that.

and for bluetonics benefit the actual rule for ovetakin cyclists is that u should leave approx 6ft(which is apparently how much they eud need if they suddenly fell off without you hittin them). if u ask me thats bull. and they shud ride on the pavement. and if there isnt one they shouldn't be there in the first place.

When people do that I just stand on the brakes, dropping from over 70 to about 40. That usually removes the smug grin from their faces. A dangerous manoeuvre of course, but no more dangerous than being blinded by a road hogging cretin.

I undertake on the motorway almost every day. I was taught to look at least 1/4 of a mile ahead, read the road and the traffic so you know what your options are nice and early. By all means flash any members of the middle lane owners club but if they don't move over immediately I just pass them on the inside, arrogant b*stards.

Jock

Ok, now for some road safety education.

loyal Welsh red, if you cycle on a pavement and are stopped by the police you get a £20 spot fine so you should normally be on the road instead.

For you and bluetonics benefit the reason you should give a decent amount of room to cyclists is 2 fold. One they may be crap and fall off or may get blown over by the gust of wind caused by you driving past. No 2 and the one most people fail to realise is that the natural thing to do as a car whizzes past if you are on a bike is steer into it to counteract the gust of wind blowing you away from it. This means when the car has passed it is very easy to then swerve out into the middle of the road as the hole in the air after the car passes sucks you in and you are already steering that way anyway. This means the next asshat to try and pass only giving 6 inches of room will find you swerving out in front of him and he ends up with points on his liscence and a fatality on his consience.

For Da, it says pretty clearly in the highway code that busses always have the right of way so they are perfectly allowed to pul right out in front of you. If them pulling out in front causes a problem it is because you aren't paying attention or you are just unnaware of the basic rules of the road.
The reason they get to do this is because they have to pull in and out of bus stops all the time but they also can have massive blind spots (besides which they always have a schedule to keep). That means the safest way for things to work is if drivers are responsible for avoiding the busses pulling out and not the bus drivers responsible for the cars.

They have no legal right of way, so no, it's not perfectly alright for them just to pull out in front of someone.

Where the highway code tells you to always give way to busses (http://www.highwaycode.gov.uk/20.shtml#198)

Why do you think all these higher qualified professional drivers pull out in front of you DA? You never thought it was because they have a right to? If you pull out in front of a bus then you would probably be held responsible if there was a crash. If an HGV pulled out in front of you it would be their fault most of the time but if a bus pulls out in front of you and you hit it it is almost always going to be your fault.

In the same way that a pedestrian always has right of way on a normal road (any except a motorway) it is possible for you to not be at fault if you run someone down. If it was impossible for you to avoid them then it is their fault even if they do have right of way.

The same thing applies to buses pulling out of bus stops. Any crash which happens is only going to be their fault if they put you in a postition where you could not possibly avoid the crash.

If you see a kid playing on a bike at the side of the road who suddenly swerves out in front of you and you hit them it is your responsibility if you didn't slow down and take notice of the hazard. If a bus pulls out of a bus stop in front of you and you took no action which anticipated that happening then that is also your fault.

But thats a nonsense. Roads are for cars and pavements are for pedestrians. I only give way if turning into another road and pedestrians are crossing. Common sense says that pedestrians give way to cars in the road regardless what the Highway code says.

I never give way to buses. They just hold me up and can be difficult to overtake! Anyway, why should people who dont pay road tax get to where they want to go before me?
