Dixons today announced that they will no longer be stocking video recorders in their shops, due to the fact they're outsold 40:1 by dvd players.
Is this the beginning of the end for the faithful VCR?

It was the beginning of the end a long time ago I think. I've been converting all my VHS tapes into VCDs or DVDs for quite a while now, and hardly ever use the VCR at all.

Why use horse and cart when you could have a roller?

I can't remember the last time I recorded something on VCR, or watched something on VCR, but that could have more to do with the fact that there's f*** all worth taping on the TV these days?

still got loads of videos though, so i'll still want one. and in a way and old vcr is the same as an old record or audio cassette, bit blurry round the edges, bit of fuzzy warmth as opposed to clean and precise digital. It's quite nice really.

I have the entire Friends collection on video (save your sarcasm)
Think of the wasted money if I couldn't watch them!

Have to agree with Stret on this one, hardly anyone uses their video recorder these days because there is that many repeats shown to TV episodes!

Famous quote from my mother about videos 'Can you not tape the match?'

What with DVD Recorders gradually falling in rpice that is the way to go and eventually most people will replace their DVD players with one of these.
