Just wondering if anyone else had tried Mozilla Firefox? It is a new web browser that is making the rounds. Just downloaded it and it seems to be pretty cool. much cleaner than IE, also supposed to have pop up stop and that built into it already and doesnt have heaps of security holes in it like IE.
Worth a try for anyone who wants something new or otherwise.
I got it from download.com then searched for firefox. i am guessing there is a mozilla.com too.

I've used it for what must be about a year now, and always found it to be an excellent alternative to IE. The latest version is excellent, and it's come on leaps and bounds from when it first started out.

Like others been using it for months now, hate IE compared to this. Love the fact you can open up several pages/tabs in one window :)

Firstly it's not plugged in to the Windows registry in the same was as IE, so it doesn't open up security holes in Windows.
Secondly, you have the multi-tab browsing option, so you can view several sites without having to open several browsers.
Thirdly, I find that it's much quicker than IE - both to load initially, and at rendering pages.
But most importantly of course, it's far nicer on the eye.

I had it for a bit, didnt really see what the fuss was about to be honest, got rid of it because everytime I'd try and type in an innocent address in it would come up with an annoying autocomplete of some dodgy porn site I had been on previously. Not good on the family PC. :(

In that case you could have gone to tools>options>privicy and cleared the saved form info, and unticked the box so it wouldnt do that again.
Rendering and speedwise, IE6 is much faster for me, strange to see so many mixed results for it. The fact IE6 stores every single site you goto and everything typed into the address bar into a seperate file is quite worrying, even after clearing cookies/temp internet files. I mean why is that needed?

I like firefox and found it much better than IE for all the reasons per4orm said. Also there are far less people trying to poke holes in the security because it is far more secure and also far less people want to feck over mozilla than microsoft.
Personally I use mozilla 1.7. Firefox is just a browser however Mozilla 1.5 has IRC, an HTML editor and an E-mail package all built in. It isn't quite as fast as firefox but I still prefer the usefullness of it over firefox' speed.
Check out all mozilla programs here (http://www.mozilla.org/products/) they are all free and (imo) leaps and bounds ahead of microsoft crap.
