I'm an idiot i know!

I'm an idiot for speeding i know. Cut to the chase, i was going out for a drive, so i'm driving a long a country lane, it's about 11.17 in the night, and it's foggy. I'm doing 60, so a 30 mile sign comes and i'm doing 50 past that, i didn't notice the police car parked up on the left watching me, i was doing 50 past it, i put my brakes on and slowed down, but the cop didn't come after me, i saw he was looking at me, but i didn't see any gun or anything, just watching me, i did 50 past him, he had not flinched and followed me, i turned back and headed back, doing 30 this time, the cop was still sitting there, and he was once again watching me, he didn't come after me for speeding. Now i don't know what the laws are, does he have to pull me over before issuing the speeding ticket or can he do it through the post like a speed camera does? Any information would be grateful. And yes i know, i shouldn't of been speeding.

Three possibilities:

1) He was eating some doughnuts or something, totally knackered and didn't even notice you speeding and thought you were at 30... or that he just couldn't be arsed to catch you up and cause some yank-style speed chase.

2) He noticed, took your registration plate and you will recieve a nice little ticket through the post.

3) You're the worlds first victim of the Human Speed Camera.
