Rogers was before my time sadly but i don't think many of the older Town fans will have seen any better by the sounds of things.

Rogers was sadly before my time, since I've been going its a split decision between Glenn Hoddle and Jan Aage Fjortoft.
Hoddle, was into his late 30s when he was playing for us, by the grace and style he had was still amazing to watch. If he was fit enough he could still be the best midfielder in this league. He made everything look so simple. |

I think you are having a laugh with ours. Roger Palmer or Andy Ritchie would get my vote. I think Ritchie was actually voted our best ever player.

I was too young to remember Ivor Allchurch in his heyday but saw him play for Swansea in the twilight of his career in the mid to late sixties, even then he was majestic with silky skills and the ability to glide past players at will.
He sadly died in his fifties and a statue of him was erected outside the Liberty stadium paid for by the fans who used to call him the Golden Boy of Welsh football. |

Dean Ashton has/had more natural talent and did his lot at a much higher level than Platt did when he was with us.
Laugh at Stockport though. Luke Beckett. Bless 'em. Pride of Cheshire? |

What about best ever players, while you've been in this division?
For Rovers it has to be Michael McIndoe. A true star, who should never have left us and was forced out of the club after a bust up with Penney, when DP humiliated him in the dressing room about a mid-season trip to Cyprus. Macca didn't want to go as he was a reformed alchie and was scared of flying, Penney humiliated him infront of the rest of the players and it all went downhill from there, to the point where Macca refused to play for Penney. Macca was right though as on that trip, Tim Ryan and Steve Foster got pissed late one night, went back to hotel and had a fight with Penney. They both left as soon as we got back for a "serious breach of club discipline". Its a shame Macca left. He left in July 06, and just weeks later Penney was shown the door after a colourful start to the season on and off the pitch. We did have a chance to bring Macca back after SO'D arrived, and we were willing for it - as were Barnsley. However, at the last minute, Wolves came along and offered him Championship football and it was too good to turn down. He's now at Bristol City, playing for Gary Johnson. |

Denis Law was truly a great great world class player! Not sure he was that in his early years at Huddersfield Town mind you, although we can be credited with discovering him obviously. Since then I'd say Frank Worthington and Jimmy Nicolson along with Boothy (A Living Legend) and Marcus Stewart.

Can't argue with Cunningham - but thats only going on what people have told me. Contrary to popular belief I'm not THAT old to have seen him.
My personal choice would have been Alan Comfort. |

Not surprised to see Rogers there at all, everyone who's seen him speaks the world of him. Local bloke too.
As for in this league I'd say... Sam Parkin. Class act. |
