So how have people found the first month and a half of releases? Personally it's been a real slow start this year, listened to 11 new albums so far and nothing has really captured me. The highlights so far are; Bring Me The Horizon's new record Amo, which starts of really strong, but the second half has too many stinkers to get really stuck into it. The Language of Injury by Ithaca, a hardcore record that's the most impressive thing I've listened to this year, but again hard to get into it properly as it's just a touch too abrasive for me. Puppy's debut The Goat, this is great but they sacrificed the hooks of their eps for more proficient song writing, needs more time. White Lies - Five, this is great but I've just not been in the mood for poppy-indie rock at all this year yet so it's on the backburner to go back too.
Just incredibly excited about this album (The Balance) that isn't quite released yet but a couple songs are leaking out. Most consistent and exciting young band in the world atm in my opinion and Van McCann writes fantastic songs.
Sadly not, I have seen them three times and everytime they were absolutely excellent. I've got a knack of being offered a ticket to their gigs last minute so I still may be yet
Fair, I saw them for the first time at Kendal Calling last year and was seriously impressed. Hopefully you luck out again and get a ticket.
The new BMTH album f*cking sucks sadly. Idles proved last year that you can come out with an album that is from a “niche” “Rock” genre and still do well from a commercial and critcal perspective. If a Punk act can get a Brit breakthrough act nomination then BMTH have no reason to from Crucify Me to Medicene. As my next message will probably show; this isn’t my main genre (very, very broad genres ) so happy to be told I’m wrong
Anyway; it’s been a f*cking great year for U.K. Hip-Hop already. AJ Tracey - AJ Tracey. Brilliant debut. Fredo - Third Avenue Breakout album. The grimiest grime album that’ll blow yet.
If the new Dave album isn’t in my Top 5 Hip-Hop albums of the year come December 31st then we’re probably had the best year in a loooong time. Phenomenal record.
Missed out on being number one by 200 copies. Anyway, it missed out to Psychodrama, which after listening to it for an entire week might just be the best British hip-hop album. Outstanding album.
Damn I felt they really deserved the no.1 with this one, hopefully part 2 manages to crack it for them. I'm not into hip hop at all, I just don't get it.
Think it’s just a case of bad timing, because I do agree that Foals probably deserved a number one. It’s a really, really good album. If you can be f*cked (and I entirely don’t blame you if you can’t be ) then check out Lesly from the Dave album. Think you’ll understand why I feel it deserves all the accolades it’s getting. Whilst review scores obviously mean f*ck all, it’s currently sitting on a 97/100 on metacritic.
Is it an 11 minute song? I'm currently listening to this so I don't know if I'm particularly in the right mood for this track
Not really my sort of thing usually but that Dave album is absolutely f*cking superb Strangely enough that Foals album, which is usually more my sort of thing, I’ve not grown to yet.
Started listening to the album today. Certainly seems on par with their previous stuff but I'll reserve full judgement until I've listened to the whole album
Weezer's new album is the only new one I've listened to. Any other recommendations? I'm mainly into rock and indie.
Listened to the album from start to finish today and yeah it's yet another masterpiece from them. Every song is a winner as seems to be on each of their albums so far
