What i would've given to have been at that game!

One of the most iconic goals in my lifetime.

If they had footage of the first successful test of the wheel, I swear John Motson would be commentating.

Pompey fans chanting "here we come, for the scum" and Saints fans after the final whistle "here we go, here we go, here we go"...wonder how bad it was after that game.

Knew a few people that went at the time and said that it was more than a little hairy both there and back with the trains getting their own version of air conditioning on the way in the dump. Mind you could've been a lot worse by all accounts as a bunch of the Painted Wagon lot had fake tickets printed for the home end and travelled up in luton vans, only to get picked up by the police because they decided to go for a few beers in Wickham on the way.

Anyway glad that side of the game is gone personally, but what i would've given to have been on that terrace for that goal!

Done every one since Alan Knight's "testimonial" game - which was probably the only time at a game i've genuinely been scared, the trip back to the station was horrific - so i've seen us win but it doesn't really count as it was only a testimonial. The Championship one was so infuriating, was convinced we were going to win that, and then Guly lost his man :slap:

He had a great chance to put us 2-0 up that day as well, one on one with the keeper but was just saved. Would have been mental scenes had that gone in.

Wow that takes me back. Moran, Shilts, Davey Armstrong! Great days. I wasn't allowed to go to that game but still remember it.

Look at the state of the pitch though! The ball bobbling all over the place, bloody great divots everywhere. You tend to forget but most of them looked more like plowed fields at times.
