Good luck to her. I personally don't see any problem with women officiating but I am bracing myself for the inevitable backlash when someone eventually criticises a decision she makes.

She must be nuts. Like every other person who decides to be a ref.

It's good they've used this period with games behind closed doors to do it, you will inevitably have a lot of issues when a crowd is in... but maybe this will get people's wee minds around it a bit.

Good luck to her :hopefully About time!

In Germany the first woman to lead a professional men's football match was Bibiana Steinhaus. It was already in 2007 in Bundesliga 2. In an (internal) ranking she was even considered the best referee in Bundesliga 2 in the 2015/16 season so it was only obvious that she would somedays be a referee in the top tier, too
And so it came, in the 2017/2018 season , she was one of the 24 referees in Bundesliga 1 (the only woman, though).
Last season, though, during the corona pandemic, she decided to end her career as referee on the field and became one of the Bundesliga VAR staff. She's a Police Woman in the Lower Saxonian Police here in the rank of Haupt-Kommissarin (Chief Inspector ) and is in a relationship with former british ref Howard Webb, I heard.

Her last official match was the German Super Cup final between Bayern and Dortmund in September 2020.

Here's a short english wiki article about her: Bibiana Steinhaus - Wikipedia

Definitely should be more Female Referees officiating the Men's game.

They would make less mistakes because the key skill they have is Multitasking skills and that would be a huge asset. I'm pretty sure they have other Refereeing skills to boast such as better focus and concentration.

Even then, they deserve to have more of a role in the Game and many sports too. I hope a Female gets the chance to referee a big Premier League game and Champions League Match in the Men's game.

Even France has a female ref (Stéphanie Frappart). How backwards is the UK?

Hope she does well and doesn't get discouraged by some of the bigots around there.
This shouldn't be big news in truth, but it kinda is. Just hope women get a fair chance but also don't get picked to meet the diversity quota.
The only way a referee should be judged is by his/her ability to do the job and the standard isn't that great at the moment, the FA could really use an influx of new refs because the old ones seem confused with all the changes to the rules and how to operate a computer in a timely fashion.
Hard to blame them with all the ridiculous changed IFAB has introduced lately but constantly having to adapt while still being used to old rules is often more difficult than being newly schooled and it shows.

There's never been any major issues with male officiating in the women's game.

If there's any problems with the "men"'s game, it's a lack of self-restraint across the board of those participating in the sport -
from top class athletes to grass roots local journalism.

In all walks of life, being your own peson should be encouraged, in respect of boundaries, but not removing them completely.

If a female referee has both the physical fitness to perform her duties to the highest level,
plus possess the necessary charisma to handle, anticipate and diffuse difficult situations correctly,
then we should have no problems whatsoever.

Again, in all walks of life, you have to take the rough with the smooth.

Not everyone has the maturity to appreciate the handling of situations where no-one ends in favourable circumstances.

    Whilst you'll never please everyone, and to an extent, we'll all face some unfair criticism of our actions from time-to-time;
no-one is entitled to have their own way, all the time, meaning football fans, like all of us, must accept our/their own responsibilities for our actions.

We're in this together. Sharing the good times and sticking together through bad.
Have both the strength and class to celebrate the good in everyone
and avoid the temptation to wallow in the unfortunate of mistakes/bad occurrences/the otherwise.
    It's the only way.

She was probably the best ref we've had all season, although the standard of refereeing at this level isn't great.

I think it's a bad move the game has been diluted too much already by women and the pc brigade.

It's starting to become middle class on the pitch as well as the stands.

Women are less 'sensitive' in many ways that men can't handle.
