Let's not exaggerate! A sucessful campaign for me would be reaching the Round of 32 or at best the Round of 16, but I am afraid we will crash out of the tournament in the group stage or even in the qualifying rounds!
Congratulations to Liverpool though! Although I wanted Barca to lift it, I see why Liverpool deserved it the most and it was a complete team. Getting Alisson and Van Djik helped a lot.
22 July is the date of the draw.
We've made some decent signings until now. We got Paulinho who is a good right-back from Portugal on a free transfer.
We also got one more Portoguese mid-fielder from Antwerp.
We also got a back-up keeper from Asteras, a fellow Greek team and some decent loan returns.
Finally, we got back our madman, Bosnian Vranjes, who had a bad spell in Belgium and a mid-fielder from Sporting also arrived on loan.
Our star striker loaned by Roma had to return, as our president decided not to pay the 8 million to make his transfer pernament. He scored 15 goals in the league and carried us to the cup final (not by his own).
Another Argentinian, Galo also had to return to Torino, but he wasn't that important.
Aging Brazilian Galo also left and his fellow compatriot Alef moved to APOEL (Cyprus) on loan.
Still don't understand why Bakasetas left us for the 9th placed team in Turkey! He was a decent and loyal mid-fielder, but this transfer earned us 800.000 euros.
More signings should be made!
The team is training in Poland now and they've played two friendlies there.
We won 1-0 against a mid-table Polish team and lost 2-1 to Slovak Trencin...Played both of the games with many B team and young players, though...
Two more friendly results...
We drew 1-1 against Maccabi Tel Aviv from Israel, captain Mantalos scored a second half equalizer!
We played one more friendly against a Polish 3rd tier team with our B team. We were just experimenting for the first 60 minutes, while being 1-0 down. We brought Mantalos and some other players then, dominated the game and managed a 1-1 draw.
We play one more Polish team in a few minutes!
We actually don't play a Polish team, we will return to Athens soon and we will play promoted side Volos on 20 July!
We got a new Italian Number 7 and just like most of our exciting players, he is from Roma!
One more signing!
Nelson Oliveira from Norwitch, ladies and gentlemen! He looks good.
By the way, we beat Volos comfortably 3 days ago in a 2-0 victory when our new signings impressed!
The draw is complete.
We will either play Honved from Hungary or University Craiova (??????) from Romania. Never heard of these, but when you don't know anything about your opponents, it is likely that they suck.
Sorry for not updating this, but we got a comfortable away win thanks to second-half goals by Mantalos and Livaja!
We play the second half tomorrow behind closed doors. To be honest, tomorrow is 15th August, a national celebration and no one would come anyways!
Let's finish the tie and then move to the play-offs, which we will either face Sparta Prague or Transbonzor, both of them will be harder than Craiova, but I think we can pull it off!
By the way, I love our new coach! He looks a bit like Guardiola!
We got a comfortable home draw (behind closed doors) and eliminated Craiova 3-1 on aggregate!
Captain Mantalos was the scorer!
We play Turkish outfit Trabsponzor in the play-off Round and some nationalist fans have taken this to a political level...Can't we just enjoy our football and progress to the Group Stages?
Greek vs Turkish
Serbian are needed to be third in this pair for an absolute madness
That will be hell on earth. Surely behind closed doors?
A few games interrupted and some points deducted each season is the standard there! Maybe our ultras are too much for Europe to handle....
There was Saviddis, the chairman of PAOK (who escaped with a minimum fine), who interrupted a derby between PAOK and us, after PAOK scored a winner and it was disallowed...What would he have done if he was City's manager against Tottenham in the Champions League?
He is still the chairman!
Sadly, yes. It is behind closed doors! We also got a suspended ban, I have not understood the concequences of it...If we were City, we would have been killed now!
Doesn't matter, but we got 300.000 euros for reaching the play-offs!
If we get though Trabsonzspor, we will be in either of Pot 2, 3 or 4...
First leg will be played at OAKA on 22 August and the second in Turkey on 29 August!
AEK 1:3 Trabzon

As they say maybe time to concentrate on the league.
Well, never say never, but scoring 3 or more goals in Turkey will be very hard for this team...
Maybe we could make a very good start in the league, as Olympiacos will be busy playing Champions League games against European powerhouses, just like us last season...
