I agree, I don’t get how you can syn, but it’s less punishing and you do lose weight.
An update on this, one day out of the blue my mum woke up with double vision, said she couldn't see anything properly.. it sounded horrible - she was basically cross eyed. I've looked up causes and you wouldn't think it but alcoholism is definitely the reason she had it. Scans etc showed nothing and as soon as she stopped drinking her eyesight returned to normal. But anyway to the point it must have frightened her to death as she hasn't touched a drop since and that's around 5 months ago so fingers crossed... if she ever goes back to it it'll be the end.
Awesome news - a realy shitty thing to happen to prompt the change, but awesome that your mum is 5 months dry
Now I'm seeing double, too...
Now I can't correct this or you'll look like you're not just seeing double, you're going slightly mad too
Go on....be a devil....you know you want to....
I had an important meeting but loads of work to do for that said meeting on Monday night.
So a couple of bottles of wine helped me through it.
However... on Tuesday... whilst I wasn't the main pitch guy i definitely regretted it. Pulled through after dinner though and it went well in the afternoon. Had to pull the old not feeling great in the morning routine though.... they'd been a bug going round.
Calorie counting seems a lot more in depth than the syns though? I'm on slimming world and know I have 15 syns a day and generally know what the syn value is of most things in my cupboards so it's very easy to stick to. It's an absolute bastard to stick to when working away from home though. Also, having seen the results of 3 apps on calorie counting v a test on the calories in the foods I wouldn't know where to start with the calorie counting! I'll have to see if I can find the show on demand and come back with the findings but I recall the likes of my fitness pal and a couple of others being a few hundred calories apart from each other in their results on a daily calorie intake and also massively off the actual calories consumed. I'm happy sticking to my basic 15 syns a day method currently!
The only thing I'm dubious on is the syn value for certain things v competitors. Muller Light for example always seem to be less than other very similar products by other companies, it often feels like they are paying for slimming world to market them as a better option!
Anyway, it may be bollocks to many but I've now lost 11 stone following it and have gone from taking tramadol for my backache pretty regularly and unable to walk a mile without sweating like mad followed by sitting down and struggling to get back up due to the pains in my back to cycling 15 miles a day and playing football and cricket twice a week.
Well done on the weight loss and getting your life back by the sounds of it. That’s some turnaround.
If I have anything similar at work, important meeting, presentation etc. I never touch a drop for at least 2 nights before.
Well done you that’s an awesome achievement.
I agree , Syns are much easier to count than calories. I’ve lost half a stone on SlimmingWorld and I’m now on week 4. Filling up with free food and using speed foods is the key.
To be honest, I’m enjoying my food and learning to cook from scratch again and trying out different flavors. My alcohol intake has gone down as I’m measuring my spirits and using as Syns, which was one of the main reasons I joined SlimmingWorld in the first place.
11 stone is some loss. What were you before if you don’t mind me asking?
27 stone 1lb. I've still got another 4 stone or so to shed!
You’re 16 stone now? And aiming for 12?
F*cking hell, Mike, didn't realise you could count.
What a pointless “contribution”.
I’m continuing the conversation.
St Patricks Day and our home opener. 5 weeks sober. A bit of a dick move as far as scheduling goes, Alcohol Gods.
Sober, cutting down, or getting smashed... whatever your thing is, I wish u all well.
How tall are you? 12 stone is pretty slim.
184cm 6ft 0.5in
I don't really have a goal other than when I feel good to be honest. The one ****ing strange thing with all of this is I don't feel any different in my head. When I'm out I still feel like I'm huge, I won't risk trying to pass by people or gaps because I feel like I'm going to be too big for them, I've sat next to a bloke who was the same size as I used to be at a show and I was squeezed in and I was tensing myself to try and squeeze the fat in thinking I was the issue and it wasn't until my wife showed me a picture she took at the event when I realised I was considerably smaller than him. I still don't see it until I see photos though.
The NHS BMI thing is a load of bollocks isn't it! Today I have finally gone from Obese to Overweight in the BMI category though.
Here's the difference so far...
