Still f*cked up the penalty though. Would have beaten the Czechs in that final.
I see this soooooooo much and to be perfectly clear, it's a load of absolute bollocks. The other home nations bar none have spent their whole pathetic existences cheering anyone we play and giving us shit when we fail. I will give as good as I get and as you can see from my post, I was replying to a tit Irish fan.
If they want to give it (and 9 times out of 10 it's them that do) then they can suck it up and take it when we are getting excited to watch our nation play in another world cup whilst they bitterly sit at home and cheer on the teams we play.
A bit worried where they have parked the England bus.
Mouthgate isn't likeable and nor is the way he got the job by wearing sweaters.
I think Southgates is a boring ****, and his teams have been boring as ****.
I want England to win but that squad is one of the worst for donkeys years.
QF at best
I agree totally. We can't win. Either we get excited and optimistic (despite past disasters) and get criticised for being arrogant and unrealistic (true, but better to have a positive outlook) or we get criticised for being fickle and unsupportive. How about everyone else just f*** off and allow us to do whatever we like to enjoy the tournament?
I think the quality of the 2002 side was one to be proud of tbh, just poorly managed.
Wales get one stab at it and most probably the only one ever in those players lives and make a whole country rock, while fans hit huge emotions.
We get so many and keep fúcking it up time and time again and embaressing the nation in the process.
Boils my piss.
How far do you think England will get this year?
Edit - posted in wrong thread, moved it to other thread.
Further than Wales.
Yeah still amazes me to this day Wales managed to win the 2016 Euros
Semi finals though. I’d be ecstatic if we reached semi’s.
It’s easy to say that when we’ve been nowhere near in recent years but I think it would probably hurt even more.
Don’t get me wrong it would be a success compared to our other recent showings but I doubt anyone would celebrate it, maybe look back on it fondly but it’s hard to get too excited over anything but a win, you’d still have to watch another team lift it thinking ‘that could’ve been us’
Hold on here chief, you are not advocating an English win are you? No no no, we can't have that, not in a million years do we want that to happen once more.
I don't blame supporters of the other home nations for taking the piss when we go out of tournaments. The media and team get arrogant every year, the TV commercials get cringeworthy, tacky flags on cars and annoying songs. I never liked the Lightning Seeds, but Ian Broudie sold out with Skinner and Baddiel.
For arrogance alone, we deserve to be ripped on, we must be the most arrogant nation in regards to its football team. During Euro 2012, the French media hardly reported on their team, because they were concerned it would cause accusations of media arrogance.
My mute button is going to be so worn out thanks to Gabriel Clarke's England Training Camp reports.
I want to see Messi win it, though I don’t think that’ll happen. Failing that, one of the countries I got in various sweepstakes. Lol
Yeah would like to see Messi win it too, but can't see it tbh. If not them then France or Spain for me.
Semis, but they gave their country a summer they will never forget.
Something we have been missing for 22 years as far as football is concerned.
For me, even the absolute best case scenario would be a Quarter Final pasting, probably off Germany of all nations.
Even a second round meeting with Colombia would be hard, although Poland I might just fancy us to beat.
Basic expectation has to be getting out of the group, probably in 2nd. Beyond that...we haven't won any knockout game in years (2006?), so it would be harsh to expect a knockout win from what is a very young and unproven group of England players. But they seem to have a plan and a structure, which I can respect Southgate for.
