    I'll be registering tonight then.

I also have a small problem that one of you computer boffins may be able to help with. I use my landlords PC and he wants to carry on using WMP version 8, this is not compatible with Audioscrobbler so I've downloaded WinAmp. The problem I now have is he now has WinAmp as his primary media/music player and my landlord being a fussy c**t isn't very happy.

We have Windows XP so both have our own desktops, so is there any way I set it up so WMP is his primary media/music device and WinAMp is mine?

Go to tools, options and then click the file types tab in media player. Be able to sort it then :)

no option for tools in media player 8. Options are Library, Rip, Burn, Sync or Guide.

I've noticed sometimes it's not updating the list with what I've played. It's missed out a load of songs I've played recently.

Not having that problem. The top artists and tracks haven't done anything yet but I think they're done every two days or something.

The recent tracks are calculated after you've played at least half the song and as long as you have the id3 tags in correctly (i.e. no id3 tags and it wont register) - alt + 3 in winamp to sort them...

The top artists bit is done according to this...

How long does it take before my Top Artists/Songs lists are updated?

These lists are calculated every few songs, depending on the size of your profile:
Profile Size New songs needed to trigger update
    less than 50 5
    50 to 100 10
    100 to 1500 15
    1500 to 3000 20
    3000 to 5000 50
    5000 to 10000 100
    more than 10000 150

Bigger profiles need more songs before lists are updated because fewer songs have little effect on large profiles. The profile size check is modulo, so it updates when the new size is exactly divisible by the number needed to trigger an update.
