OK this is crazy. Unsure whether a fire started at this fireworks factory or someone ignited a bomb or dropped a bomb on it... but it's not good at all.

Lebanon's in bad shape already, lets hope this doesn't turn into something that only exacerbates it.

The videos coming out from Beirut are really bad. Apocalyptic stuff.

Israeli jets flying over Lebanon, and apparently the US is monitoring the situation... even NYC police are.

Apparently Britain will be monitoring it as well......just as soon as Johnson has found where Beirut is in his A-Z of the World :D

Jesus, horrifying. Almost as bad as the Tianjin explosion a few years back.

Seen people suggesting it could be the grain dust from silos in the area causing that? I don't know enough about chemical reactions or anything to know whether that's the case, but it seemed to make sense...if grain dust is highly combustible and it's potent in the air in that area, a small explosion would chain reaction into the one you see there - would also explain why it seems to clear so quickly.

It's going to end up being a lot more than 25...

Wonder if this is an accident or not.

Sounds like a place storing fireworks caught fire next to a place that was badly storing ammonium nitrate that had been there for years. A bomb waiting to happen.

I'd say it's probably an accident. I thought originally it might be a gas explosion or something but that's gigantic. Imagine that going off in a city centre.

Its doubled to 50 now and 2750 injured. Apparently there has been issues with the warehouse sttoring these chemicals and fireworks, that have been reported in the past. So far it looks accidental.

So the government have announced they'll have an investigation which will reveal who is responsible within 5 days...why the timeframe? Why not just keep going till you get to the truth?
Putting that timeframe on it surely just means that whoever seems the most to blame after 5 days is going to be responsible?
