Stopped in Stafford on the way and then into the car park at the ground, short wait afterwards to get out and then straight back to the motorway

I'd never include a police escort as a good thing

Ipswich was one of my favourite away games during the 90's, the Drum and Monkey pub would put on Palace season review videos up on the large screen and the atmosphere was always electric.

QPR as well, whether you were in the top tier or the bottom, it was loud as f*ck and you could have a decent piss up before and after the game.

If you got a game at Forest when the weather was still good then having a drink along the river Trent was always good before going to the inevitable defeat.

Norwich was always good too... Although the Complete Angler is a home pub only now.

Barnsley. F*cking weird place but decent drink options, decent away end, and some beautiful pork pies in the market.

Yeah Norwich is always a goodun.

Walsall as well for us, a non entity of a place but we always had a good craic there and is another one that has an enclosed away end that was great for acoustics.

As I said to Frannie, we were herded back towards Stratford International so would've had to take a bloody long detour in the dark to end up back over that way. You seem to think I chose the Premier Inn as my preferred pub. I can assure you that wasn't the case

Strangest place I’ve been to Barnsley. Everyone looked like f*cking weebles (you’re probably to young to get that mind you  )

    Railway Telegraph probably?

The Clifton Arms is near the ground and on a corner. Possibly that, although I think it's strictly home fans only nowadays.

In truth the majority of the pubs around Selhurst/Norwood are shitholes. I tend to drink in Croydon, occasionally at the Cherry Trees near Norwood Junction or more often than not the Red & Blue Bar inside the ground. I can't be arsed with packed pubs full of coked up morons these days.

Kids toy from the 70s/80s mate. Had the strap line Weebles wobble but don’t fall down. I’m sure @King_Kenny would know them

Parmos a class, weirdly I’ve just been to Vietnam and they absolutely love them over there!

Norwich has always been my favourite away day. Quite possible we'll be in the same division next season one way or another. We're overdue a trip there!

In some restaurants it was the terrible Aussie version, but some had proper parmos thankfully

Went to the Railway Telegraph (100 yds from Thornton Heath Stn the other way to ground) but probably no colours, and good behaviour necessary)

Can well imagine. Probably just better for us away fans eh!

When I went it was August 2001 and every away team got grief, until it came to a head with the FA Cup tie v Leeds. That's when Sam Hamman gave an ultimatum or something about the fans behaviour.

Norwich and Ipswich were both decent too. The Riverside in Ipswich near the station has a great jukebox - called Ipswich 'mini Newcastle' as the ground dominates the town centre, on a smaller scale :D
