    1 week poll deadline. You get 2 choices and can change your vote if you choose to. Top 2 go through to the next stage.

    No videos for this one as I don't have the time right now. If anyone else wants to post their favourite songs though feel free.

    Alabama 3 are probably more famous for their track, 'Woke Up This Morning', which was used for the opening sequence of The Sopranos. It also gave the band huge stardom in the US while still remaining fairly anonymous in their own back yard (they hail from Brixton).

    This is the opening track of La Peste, their second album..

    Only one winner here.
    This song introduced me to them, and it's been amazing since.

    I'm old so I prefer their old stuff. This song was written on the back of the success of DSOTM and is a great depiction of a record executive's take on the success of the band..

    @Panja
    Love Have a Cigar, but my favourite from that album is 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond'.

    There old stuff, especially when Syd Barrett was around, was really trippy - even child-poetry like at times (in a good way) with Bike and See Emily Play. Their sound became a touch smoother later.
    Still nobody comes close to them, especially when it comes to lyrics.

    If Syd hadn't have gone crazy I don't think Waters would have been strong enough personally to take such huge steps as a songwriter. Their first two albums with Barrett as the lead songsmith are pretty hard to listen to now (for me, anyway). I much prefer the period from Dark Side to The Wall.

    Gilmour is a very lucky man, not as lucky as Ringo Starr but lucky all the same. I suppose I am team Waters because my favourite Floyd stuff is 72-79. The Wall is a thing of absolute beauty. The romantic in me would like to have seen the band split once that wall went down..

    I didn’t when I first watched it but I saw it again a few years later and thought it was very good. It is still Geldof though.
    The album is such a brilliant work of art though.

    Hard to pick between monkeys and the cure, monkeys have 2 legit amazing albums but not much else whereas the cure has more good albums.
