I know this is old but bloody hell, if you can't find a drink in Preston then you're doing something badly wrong. Not much around the ground but loads of choice in the centre which is a 20 minute walk away. Miles more choice than Wigan.

Just spotted this on Twitter for anyone visiting Deepdale this season, decent little round-up.

what's people's recommendations for pubs for away fans at molineux this season? Been a long time since i went (2007 but i won't remind the wolves fans about the score i promise) and imagine it must've changed a fair bit since then @Quirkafleeg

I tend to prefer "proper boozers" instead of the standard yates/spoons, and like my ale too.

A lot of city centre pubs are home fans only now, You maybe could get into the Great Western without colours. Great Western is the best pub in the city for Real Ale. @FranniesTache

Loads of out of town Wulfs go in there. One of my mates sounds like Ian Holloway the other like Stuart Pearce.

I went to Wolves a few years ago and got told by a copper that the away fan pub was a place called Faces.

We get there and it’s a nightclub above a cinema (I think). 4 bouncers on the door despite there being absolutely no queue. We get a full search before going in, and as we head upstairs we bump in to a few Brighton fans heading down “Good luck lads, it’s shit here” they tell us as they almost run out of the bar.

Now maybe I’m showing my age, or how much of a sheltered life I lead when it comes to clubbing but I thought the whole ‘sticky floors and stinks of sick’ thing was a myth. Faces in Wolves proved me wrong. The place f*cking reeked of vomit, and it was like walking through treacle. We were also the only punters in the place. How a place can be that disgusting at 1:30pm is beyond me.

Walked up to the bar and ordered a pint of fosters as it was that or strongbow. Guy pulls out a plastic pint glass and then walks to the f*cking fridge to get me a 330ml bottle of Fosters. “That’ll be a fiver please, mate.”

We weren’t in there long. The single worst places I’ve drunk at an away game I reckon.

First time doing Stoke away tomorrow. Any pubs nearby or is it going to be a drinking in the ground away game?

Head to the student union bar at Staffordshire University. Drunk in there a few times. There are special buses from there straight to the ground, then back to the station from the ground after the game. Only £3 return I think.

Other option is The Terrace pub just down the road, but that is small and gets rammed.

To be honest Stoke away is one of the worst for drinking at, most of the center is like Wolves where it's home fans only (plus the home fans aren't exactly welcoming).

As @SpursLegend says you can drink in the SU bar but it's f*cking terrible, basically the worst selection of carlsberg, fosters and the like served in plastic pint pots.

It's been a while since i went but i used to drink in the Rochester pre game (not sure if it's there anymore @Delilah should know) otherwise the Terrace inn is slightly better, though still not great.

The Glebe is slightly better if you're not wearing colours and not mouthy, but still worth being sensible in Stoke as they are one of the few clubs that have a fairly large active element even now.

@FranniesTache - The Rochester? Not sure which pub that is. Where was that mate?

The Glebe is a fantastic place. Owned by a local brewery. It is one of the very few things I miss about not living there. Sometimes I just think I would love to be able to go and have a pint of Joules Pale Ale in there. I have seen people in there wearing colours in the past as well. Don’t take the piss and you are fine.

Was the Scream pub on the corner of the main road and the road going down towards the student union mate, think i got the name wrong, it might've been the Roebuck

We just drank in the ground in the end, my friend drove up and nowhere was nearby where we parked.

Thanks for the replies anyway, much appreciated.

Stopped in Stafford on the way to the game at a quality pub called The Lucky Penny. Only about a 20 minute drive to the ground. If ever any fans might be passing I would definately recommend stopping by there wasn't any Stoke fans in there and after talking to staff the pub is rarely used by travelling fans to Stoke. Pool table, dart board, jukebox.

Has Uber reached Stoke yet, I know they're 40 years behind so not sure.

If it has, then this is a great tip... if we play them any time soon
