True but the current imbalance southwards is due to for years 2 out of 3 step 3 leagues being southern. So every year twice as many southern clubs were moving up the pyramid. Now they've changed it to 4 leagues at step 3 and it'll balance out better. This season though there is the anomaly of 4 southern clubs going down from the national but it's a consequence of more southern clubs moving up the pyramid for years.

There'll always be a demarcation point though in the Midlands.

I'd agree with that, this season in a supposedly regionalised league has been an absolute pain in the arse travel wise. Pretty much every away game is a trek for us but it's much easier travelling up the M5 to the midlands and the north than having to go across to the South East. Lost count of the number of nightmare journeys to Essex we've had this year!

This could run, they are pissed. At the start of the season they were told they could be promoted because they'd have a year to implement the covered seating. Now apparently a rule has come out of nowhere stating that to compete in the playoffs a club has to have at least 500 covered seats.
If they were 1st they'd be allowed promotion, but 2nd-7th they can't have a shot at it. Their owner has called the National League an embarrassment but hasn't said anything about appealing it. He also said that they've suddenly changed their minds about 8th place being allowed in and that at the start of the season clubs were told if a club could not compete in the playoffs the 8th place team would take their place. Now it'll just be 5 teams in the playoffs.

Ebbsfleet have said they are not seeking demotion. Haven't been paying their players again though and are going to be struck off by companies house. Be interesting to see what happens with them at the AGM as unlike the Premier league and EFL the National League and other non-league bodies don't stand for any shit and if they can't prove they are going to be paying players and staff I wouldn't be surprised to see them thrown out. 'We've not been paid again'

That point Braintree got against Orient could keep them up.

Notts County here next season, literally cannot believe it. I've never been bothered about who went down before, barring maybe Hartlepool who have a place in Southend hearts with the goal at Brentford that helped us get promoted in 2006. But I am genuinely sad that Notts are going to be playing the likes of Boreham Wood and Maidenhead in league matches next season.

Noticed they still averaged 7k despite being bottom for most of it which is very loyal - hopefully for those County fans its re-paid next season with promotion but as former leagues clubs have found its not easy.

If you're not a basket case like Bristol Rovers weren't and you treat the league with respect, sign good players from that level and have a manager who knows the scene, you'll be fine.

In our case, we signed some good Conference players but we hired an unknown manager who flunked, almost went bust due to owners shafting us out of L2 and didn't adapt to the league, in fact we're still doing that now 2 seasons later. If you follow our path, you'll have no chance of a quick return. We'll be here a few more seasons best case scenario. Countless other sides were/are similar to us and a couple have even gone lower.

They need to have a good plan in place with the right people to execute it otherwise they'll be here for many years.

All depends on Notts takeover really. If it goes through smoothly in the offseason and they come in with a clean slate and a plan then they have half a chance. The next part will be either picking a new manager or keeping Ardley - which would probably be a good idea as he knows the division.
If they don't do those things then they'll join the list of ex-league clubs struggling to beat the likes of Boreham Wood and Ebbsfleet.

    Salford 3-0 up on Fylde.

EFL got the pound signs in their eyes.

I go to a few Wealdstone games but missed the semi final. But what a comeback that was by you guys. You deserved to go up, the only team that came close to challenging Torquay.

Semi final was great. We looked dead and buried. Our form was terrible during the last two months but overall I think we deserved promotion.

Do the National leagues count as grass roots?

Considering half the pitches are plastic you can't really say that
