If Jota's is rightfully given at the start of the second half we probably do. Your heads drop and it becomes damage limitations. As is you scored with 35 minutes to play and it gives you incentive to have a go.
I mean I've just seen on MOTD that Jimenez is offside in the build up, no? Jota is clearly onside but it's given for Jimenez.
I mean they haven't exactly done a proper analysis of it but that's what it looks like. Impossible to tell from where I was sat in the ground.
Jimenez was clearly on side. What are you talking about
Just watched motd, he’s unreal isn’t he ? He gets disrespected quite a bit on Portuguese forums like this when he plays for the national team but I just 100% think he’s still an amazing player
Yeah and literally after that post I made Wolves announced he has signed a deal to 2022. Delighted. Best player I've seen play for the club.
Your guy on the far side plays him on. Ake is playing him off, quite right but you can see your left back has two feet planted on the darker shade of turf, Raul has one on either side.
In any case, referees are supposed to allow play to carry on and allow VAR to correct any issues. That Hooper blew up just adds to the VARce of it all.
Biggest result of the season, easy.
Yeah but what about his armpit?
From what I could see, the offside was called very quickly/early and players (apart from the bloke who 'scored') stopped immediately.
Had play been allowed to continue for a check later, then it's not guaranteed the move results in a goal anyway.
But I do believe that's how things are supposed to be done now, unless the officials are totally certain. So looks like that was incorrectly handled in the current rules. Whether that's how it should be done is another argument!
Didn't seem to be much protest at the time, and this is from people who protested a most obvious foul on Fraser first half! So assumed it was all clear. But the screenshot above makes it look a close one, all be it not a straight imagine so not ideal.
As we know offsides and VAR are a total lottery. It's not about his feet, it's about his armpit/arse or whatever these days seemingly...
If we're being picky we should also be pointing out that Moutinho moves his free kick for the goal well away from where the foul occurred, giving him a much better angle, either for a delivery or as it was a shot at goal. It should have been 5 yards closer to the byline and much more acute. Fair play for trying it on, the officials (and our players seemingly) all missed that little trick. And a lovely finish it was, of course.
Forget his armpit/arse, your left back plays him on by about a yard. Monumental **** up by the ref to blow up when Jota was through on goal, even if the lino had stuck his flag up.
Yeah, I'm not having that. It's like a foot away.
There's no defending it really. **** all this, 'you can't tell because VAR has been ruling out close decisions', it wasn't close!
Monumental **** up by the officials, luckily for them it didn't affect the result.
Ah, just realised you were talking about the free kick placement.
Saw Villa fans moaning about similar after Neves scored the other week. Very strange. Like it's going to make any difference at all.
Yes, well, it does a bit!
Should have been taken midway through the lighter strip. If we're being picky and honest, that tighter angle makes the shot harder. Nothing wrong with Wolves trying to gain a small margin, we all do it, the opportunity stems from Francis' snails pace foul in the first place.
I'd want to moan at the ref more than Moutinho, because the ref should indicate with his spray both where the wall should be (as can be seen) and where the kick should take place (not apparent). A **** up, as you put it.
He has moved the ball placement but I'm afraid it was a brilliant free kick and they deserved to win, they should have scored more in that half to be honest.
Saw a good point about how trying to match Wolves formation essentially said to the players from the outset we aren't good enough to beat them at our best, all we can do is try to nullify their game. Personally think it's madness he refuses to play a 4-5-1, having L. Cook, Billing and Lerma in the middle could have stop them controlling the ball. Lots to learn to be honest.
Moutinho would still have buried it
So stupid to start with that line up, so so so stupid. Cost us dearly in a game that was already going to be tough. Play 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 Eddie ffs.
No doubting the brilliance of the finish, and the ruthless execution of the game plan first half.
Another vote here for seeing a central midfield 3 at some point, weird that we have this weekly selection dilemma of picking between 3 all decent (but all different) CMs, and never once think to try using all 3 of them.
Felt like Eddie wanted to shoehorn the fit again captain Francis back in, first name on the team sheet and basically picked the team / system from there.
We're almost into December and have no idea what our best lineup or shape is, most sides have that broadly figured out by about September.
Definitely plenty to learn about this squad rebuilding lark. A fit Brooks would be nice mind!
Tough run from now till Xmas.
Must be very frustrating because not many would consider you as being in any danger of relegation.. yet you’re not quite pushing on up the league because of the rotation and trying to find your best team
