Burnley were never going to score, it was just case of whether they could somehow sneak a 0-0 like a non league team in the FA Cup against a big team. They gave it their all defensively but a goal was always coming.

Could have done without how close it was past the line given the 11 mm at their place that has been the decisive moment.

They've got 8 days till then though to rest and prepare. They've clearly been tiring lately and if they were in the CL on Wednesday followed by Leicester on Saturday then there'd be a better chance. As it is we're going to find it hard to lift ourselves to beat Newcastle after Wednesday night to make that game still matter.

A shame they defended like the keystone f*cking cops in the CL and have won practically every game in the league since Christmas to nil.

If Burnley had give up Sterling would've scored, great win but my nerves are shot.

They didn't give up. There was just zero belief they were ever going to score, or even create anything. It was a case of hold on for dear life at 0-0. Once City scored the gameplan was gone.

Like the game at Bournemouth basically. 80% possession 30 odd shots to 1. City in this league is just a mismatch for most now.

Rather they had won 5-0 than hanging on hoping that Burnley would score. Ederson may as well have gone off to see the sights and sounds of Burnley's shopping centre as he has not been needed.

The last 15 minutes were not easy to watch. One thing I would like to say is that Aguero went from being in my top 3 all time favourite City players to number 1 today. There was a short period around the 82nd minute where he kept fighting to win the ball after mis-hitting it. That is the sort of attitude that wins games and leagues. It was followed a few minutes later by Jesus losing the ball and giving up. That lad has a load of potential, but whenever I see him play he can be hit or miss attitude wise. Really hope he can gain some of Sergio's drive.

Burnley are a thoroughly depressing team to watch, how people pay money to watch that is beyond me. They are safe, at home, but there was zero ambition to play there. Deserved what they got, which was nothing.

Have to say though, thought City taking their foot off the gas in the last 20 minutes was a bit risky, there were gaps, but they seemed to slow down every counter attack.

Can't see City slipping up to be honest, Leicester won't and can't play that defensively, so City will overload them I think. And Brighton well they are just awfu;.

To a much lesser extent. Even Cardiff last week, in a similar kind of game, had golden chances at 1-0, we needed a late pen to beat Fulham, late goal at Southampton who gave us a hell of a fight and we came from behind, injury time winner against Spurs who could have finished us off at 1-1, Chelsea was a close game the other week and we had to come from behind to Burnley and were hanging on at the. That's just during the current winning run.

That's 12 wins in a row for City and they haven't even gone behind or scored a late winner, or in the most of the games even conceded a goal and scored early in a lot of them. It's just pure domination game after game.

I was just thinking, if Liverpool and City both win our next 2 games, 2nd place will break Chelsea's point tally record that lasted 14 years and still get bugger all to show for it. It has been one hell of a season and both teams are deserving champions (although naturally I have nothing but ill wishes for your remaining 2 games :D )

Meh, went much as expected, Burnley with a plucky first half defending brilliantly only for City to regroup and grab a winner. Unfortunately Burnley offered absolutely zero attacking threat, not surprising given they had nothing to play for.

We needed City to play these two games ago when Burnely still needed points.

Doubt that goal would have been given without the technology.

That today just won City the title.

Liverpool bottled it at Goodison too.

    Maybe next year.

Nobody's really laid a glove on them in the league since they last dropped points. They've hardly even conceded a goal.

On the Goodison factor it's true in the sense that we had to keep it in our hands as City were always liable to go and win every game and we could do nothing about it. We should have kept more of a cushion for that game, Old Trafford was as bad. When you have to win practically every game it's stupid to say it's bottling. We've equalled United's best ever points total in a 38 game season.

And nobody has touched Liverpool since they gassed at Everton. You're moaning that nobody has put a dint on City, but nobody has touched Liverpool either.

F#ckin hell Ritchie, this is absolutely ridiculous. Being so good still means something & it's been an excellent season regardless of how it ends. We were 25 points behind City last season, now we're just 1 point behind, legitimately challenging, on course for the 3rd highest PL points total ever (2nd if City drop pts). By far the best LFC league campaign in almost 3 decades, that's a great foundation to build on. Finally we're seeing a team that knows how to consistently win games... with most key players in their peak years for another 3 seasons & others like Trent & Gomez still babies. This could still be a CL winning side yet & I know it looks very unlikely now but it ain't over til it's over in the league...
They didn't give up, they were knackered from all the effort they put in, City grind teams down. I couldn't see any other side trying harder, yes they lack quality but Burnley did themselves proud.
