Must’ve changed it recently used to just say The North in big letters at Winchester on the M3

I've just seen that Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham (hosting Spurs) are all at home on Halloween night. Wednesday will be interesting.

    We'll rotate.

    Cech
    Lichtsteiner Mustafi Sokratis AMN
    Elneny Guendouzi
    Mkhitaryan Ramsey Smith-Rowe
    Welbeck

I'd go for that. Torreira, Xhaka and Holding need rests.

Yeah I'm glad I'm missing our match. I'd have to go through Stratford to get to work. A Srtatford full of West Ham and Spurs fans? No thank you.

    Sounds awful

Usually find my train is busy on matchdays so just hoping it's scattered on the way back.
Got the Halloween crowd too which will no doubt be drunken idiots.

Not entirely our choice. It was either Monday - Wednesday or Thursday - Saturday.

Play in the Champions League on Tuesday too.

Ideally needed to play City on the Saturday rather than the originally scheduled Sunday. Pushing it back a day has meant four games in eight days.

Watched the second half of Bournemouth 2-1 Norwich. Thought Norwich were really unlucky, although Jordan Rhodes missed an absolute sitter in injury time so they only have themselves to blame.

We've got Boro tomorrow night to make it a hat-trick of Championship away ties. Pretty sure Tony will want to get one over on us, and we've fielded heavily weakened sides in all the other rounds, but I'd love it if we went relatively strong and got into the quarter-finals. With the greatest respect, whoever draws Burton in the next round has every chance of being in a major SF.

Dunno how we won that. Atrocious game of football for the most part, so disjointed. Wtf formation were we playing?

Norwich should consider themselves unlucky. Although they do kinda have themselves to blame, they managed to create and miss enough clear chances to win two or three games.

As for us our policy of complete rotation somehow sees us through to a 3rd quarter final in 3 seasons. Not shabby for Bournemouth.

I don't get why a team like Bournemouth, who aren't going to go down or get in the top 4 this season, and aren't in Europe, would rest players for the League Cup or Fa Cup. Why not just go for it while they're in it? Now they're in the quarter final and will probably rest players again which will cost them a reasonable chance of making their first major final (semi final?). A League Cup or Fa Cup final would be their biggest ever game and it's 2 rounds away.

Even Forest rested 10 players, or made 10 changes anyway from the weekend.

Howe's squad building mantra is to aim for 22 players of roughly equal ability (and roughly equal pay) to create a group.

His team selection mantra is to make as few changes as possible when in form, such as the moment.

You can see where this goes. The cups are used as a chance for the second 11 to move themselves into the first 11.

I would prefer he compromised and made a handful of changes, say cap it at 5. And for gods sake used a normal formation, which was the problem last night, the horrible shape.

Otherwise it's totally unfair to the second 11 who do play, how can they give a solid account of themselves otherwise. Better to slot a handful of them into the in-form side.

Anyway, it's been Howe's method for about 5-6 years now, I doubt it'll change anytime soon. He'd argue that the 3 quarter finals being knocked out only by Chelsea Liverpool etc backs him up.

I'll be getting the 23:30 train out of Liverpool st so hopefully Stratford will be quiet by then... last Thursday the train was packed but mostly theatre goers

The Hamiton going to be rammed at 5pm when my train gets in so will avoid that... probably go to Holborn.
