What would make Scottish football, more glamorous would be if Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers expanded the size of their stadiums.
Celtic fill their ground, with 60,000, so why not expand it to 75,000?
Rangers easily fill their 50,000, so why not expand it to 60,000?
This would make Scottish football more glamorous, because at present loads of clubs are catching up with the Old Firm or even making bigger stadiums.
They do not need to buy 20 million pound players to win the Scottish league. So if Celtic sell Tierney and Demblee for 20 million each instead do buying players with it, they could spend it on stadium expansion. They could cut back on players and invest in their stadiums, that could help the brand of Scottish soccer.

Rangers don't fill their stadium and couldn't afford to expand it. They are more concerned about getting it fixed never mind expanded.

Celtic also don't often fill it though on European nights it would be handy but if we sell our best players to pay for it the team will be crap and the crowds won't turn up.

Would cost too much money for either to do it with little return.

Previous 4 seasons to the Brendan Rodgers era Celtic were averaging just under 46k, despite being domestically dominant. Not so sure a bigger stadium is called for

Rangers are closer to capacity in the previous two years than they have been recently (for obvious reasons) but not sure they could afford nor really need to expand.

Edit : @pvm66 has pretty much just said this.

When the attendances are given out, they count all the season tickets as well, even if they don't turn up. Up until BR came the reality is that we had quite a few crowds (who actually turned up) of around the 30k mark and sometimes even less. This had been happening since Tony Mowbray was here.

Our stadium is about the right size for the level we play in.

If we had a guaranteed 10 CL home games and CL level players then we could easily add an extra 10k seats.

Attendances between 50-60k is just right for games against clubs like Hamilton and Ross County.

    Same as Parkhead.

I don’t know where they got the statement that Ibrox is never full.

At every game that either team plays at home, there are usually a fair few empty seats. It's not a criticism, its just the way it is. Not all the season book holders turn up. Imo both sides deserve credit for the amount who do go but I dont think there's any value in increasing capacity.

I reckon our average attendance this year, meaning ones who actually go, would be around the 53k mark and yours would be around 44k.

would be great to see celtic fc playing at a celtic park with 150,000 all-seated capacity with retractable roof roof and retractable pitch and rangers playing with at ibrox stadium with a 150,000 all-seated capacity with retractable roof roof and retractable pitch but every spare money at the moment is need to strengthen the onfield team in order to get into and win the UEFA champions league and until they are winning it season in season out like real madrid are currently doing then I can't see them expanding their stadia.

Until? I don't know where you're buying your drugs from but get me some next time:laugh:. They need to aim for a european campaign where they don't embarrass themselves before they can even think about actually getting anywhere near winning it. Even then neither team are going to fill 150,000 seat stadium.

Once we work out how to beat Kilmarnock and St Mirren we will then try to conquer Real Madrid.

the 1937 Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow between Celtic and Aberdeen drew an official crowd of 147,365 with 20,000 more people locked outside.

So Celtic FC at least can get 150,000 to some of their matches all be it in the 1930's at Hampden Park..

Observed from abroad, South Yorkshire, it seems that the problem with Scottish football is that two clubs are so dominant, ( historically, just one club now). Should the OF further increase attendances wouldn’t that further compound the inequality thus reducing overall interest in Scottish football. It’s not lack of attendances that harm the OFs success in Europe but an absence of credible opposition within Scotland. The only hope for the OF and the rest of Scottish football is that the OF join the English league pyramid. As this will never happen Scottish football will continue to deteriorate relative to former historical’glories.

    GERS’ NEW £280m IBROX
RANGERS will become the first club in Britain to build a stadium boasting a retractable roof and hovering pitch.

    GERS’ NEW £280m IBROX

One of the three strategies proposed in 2008 would have seen the removal of the giant screens currently housed between the Copland, Broomloan and Govan Stands and the lowering of the pitch to accommodate more seating, taking the overall capacity of Ibrox to 57,000 all-seated.
