Thats just the thing though, it was a tinpot cup before the addition of "B/Reserve/Youth" teams. Like the league cup, something you don't take seriously until you reach at least the quarter/semi-finals.

We, like others, made loads of changes to our team in previous rounds but we now find ourselves with a day out at Wembley.

40k Pompey and Sunderland fans don't care who we beat to get there, we're just happy for the day out.

Both teams have suffered a big downturn in fortunes over recent years, so we'll enjoy it no matter what competition it is. I doubt either team will be distraught if they don't lift that cup at 4.30 on March 31st.

As mentioned, it’s more the day out that we’re looking forward to but I definitely want to see us lifting the trophy at the end of the day.

Yup, got my ticket this morning :D Are you going?

I actually don't know yet, but it's looking increasingly likely that I won't be. Hope everyone that goes has a great day out though.

I've been lucky to see Sunderland play at Wembley 4 times in my lifetime so making it a 5th is very tempting.

Btw my mate (a season ticket holder) was having trouble buying tickets online, said you couldn't buy seats together which I found strange. Don't know if it was a glitch or he's just stupid though, probably the latter.

You heard of people having any problems?

It depends if pals of his have got season tickets too. I won’t be sitting next to a couple of my mates as they are only eligible for phase 2 on Tuesday as they don’t have season cards.

I see the dumb skate c*nts have scabbed their own boycott (not a surprise given that cities history of being scabs) and still haven't sold out, and this is despite them offering six tickets per person

Yeah U23s muscling in on the only chance most lower league sides have of winning a cup & having a trip to Wembley. A lot of other category 1 academies have already been in it.

I still don't understand why they don't make competitions for U-23 or U-20 teams just like in most countries! I understand that a academy like Liverpool's would be overpowered, as theoretically, Liverpool could bring Trent Alexander Arnold and Gomez there (both of them in their early 20s)

It's better than that, the 'u23' teams can actually bring in whoever they want. Peter Crouch played for Stoke in this competition as a way of getting match time after coming back from injury.
It's a farce and joke of a competition. I was told by Southend's chief exec that the options on the table were to scrap the competition or let 'u23' teams in. They should have scrapped it and I told him so.
