    Awful news, really dreadful. Senseless.

Looks like they've arrested the man responsible too.

It doesn't matter what part of the political spectrum you're on, this is just utterly appalling, sickening and just incredibly sad!

Britan is very, very broken right now with stabbings seemingly a regular occurrence to the point that they often don't even make the MSM, let alone be top headlines. How have we fallen so far that people stabbing other people to death no longer ranks high on the shock meter?

On Sky News they showed his tweet advertising the constituency surgery. You don't have to know the person involved to find it quite moving to see tweets from them just going about their ordinary, every day business just hours before some dreadful event like this.

Two British MPs assassinated in six years. Shocking, the safety of MPs needs to be looked at.

Just read that he's passed away. I'm honestly sick and tired of living in this country now. When I was a kid it seemed so much safer than it is now. What kind of a shit heap of a world am I bringing my kids into?

Anyway, RIP. Absolutely disgraceful thing to happen.

I smiled a couple of weeks ago when Angela Rayner described Tories as 'scum', but now I'm wondering if this is the result of such language becoming commonplace in politics, and perhaps I should have known better.

Rest in peace Mr Amess, murdered whilst doing your job, it's a sad day for British politics and Britain in general.

I've seen that the Rayner comment is being used by Tory hardliners to score political points and lay the blame at Labour's door (hardly the first time that's happened) but it wasn't so long ago that I was talking with my parents whilst we were watching some form of politics news and I was saying that we are probably not far away from someone being hurt because I think people are becoming angrier and angrier with all aspects of politics and whilst most of us are able to control our anger, there are people who just can't and who will go to these extremes.

The sad thing about these situations (if it is someone angry about politics) is that the bloke probably wasn't angry with the guy he targeted, he is probably angry with those at the top but knowing he can't get to them, he targets a much easier target such as today and a very innocent life is lost. The whole thing is just a very sorry state of affairs.

It might be time to increase security around MPS, which will be a shame as it is nice to see them meeting and connecting with their constituents.

Such a shame for David Agnes and his family.

Really sad to think of him sat there ready to listen to peoples problems and having to go through such a horrific attack.
This is the end result of demonising anyone with an opposing view.

    RIP.

I think Boris and his team need to take a long, hard look in the mirror after this. He chose to take the route of divisive, Trump style nationalist rhetoric starting with the Brexit referendum campaign and the lies and dishonesty that have characterised the last 6 years or so make people very, very angry. And when there are a lot of very angry, wound up people in the country the chances of somebody getting angry enough to go and do something like this gets exponentially higher. We saw it in America when Trump got voted out after 5 years of highly polarising rhetoric.

We don't yet know the motivations of the murderer, for all we know it could be a completely local issue that's nothing to do with the national political climate. But I'd be very surprised if it's not linked to the highly polarised, divided political landscape that Boris has created.

RIP. Nobody deserves to die like that and it's another very sad day for British politics.
